And they are not on our schedule next year? Are you freakin kidding me!? This is like tu not being on our schedule when we had Johnny football.

btw, (speaking of Johnny & Bama) my favorite Saban memories...

Every time I see a video clip of JFF running the football, I am just as amazed and how fast and elusive he was as when I first saw it. Pick the ten fastest defensive players on the field, and JFF would probably finish 9th or 10th in the 40 or 100 but on the field, he ran off and left them, time and again.

Nobody was impressed with that DC hire.

whether bama is on our schedule or not, I'll enjoy seeing that program lose some games.

They've lost just shy of 30% of their roster.

Agreed. He didn't have elite straight line speed (although pretty good for a QB) but he was so decisive, quick and elusive.

And I think this was proven on his shuttle run at the combine. His shuttle time was 4.03 which is very good. In 2022 that would have been the 2nd fastest time.

To put in perspective, in 2021 JaMarr Chase ran a 3.99 shuttle. The fastest time for a QB that year was 4.20.

He just had the gi joe swivel hips, where he basically lost no speed on any direction change he made. I still think he could have had a lot of NFL success if he had no personal demons

Saban cut his teeth as a DB coach. Losing a coach of that stature has an impact on the program. Plus, the transfer guys can pretty much go anywhere.

Me too. Unfortunately, a new SEC member is next in line to become the next Bama.

UGA is not a new SEC member.

If you are talking about cow, that is laughable.

Saban as HC was very involved with the DB room and DB coaching as that was his expertise and specialty. DeBoar was a good hire on paper but the DC hire was meh, it's going to be a hard transition for the program and fans.

Alabama reloaded very well. If I played for Bama I would not leave. New guy is top notch until he shows that he sucks.

I agree with this 100%. My only concern is if they all transfer to UGA and we create a new super Bama.

not a chance. Sark is no Saban, not even close.

Georgia is already the next bama, but they won't be able to duplicate that at the level that bama was at under saban. College football is different now - portal and NIL have changed things.

and the SEC is diffrent now, - the schedules will become more blanced and teams won't be able to skate through a weak east or have to hoe a tough west slate.

Yep! There's speed, and then there's FOOTBALL speed.

Dat Nguyen had it. Zach Thomas had it. Very seldom do players run 100% of their true speed- but the players who KNOW where they need to be and WANT to be there , play at a speed that looks like 2x everyone else.

Texas got Georgie instead of Bama so at least the sips did not luck out in that one as well.

Watch OU lose 5 SEC games but beat Bama.

I wonder if the Bama boards are crying 'the sky is falling' like all the chicken littles in here when our portal exits were much less than this or if they are so far disillusioned from having Saban that they think they'll just be fine.

I saw a screenshot of a post urging people to stop tithing and give 10% of their income to Bama NIL

The saddest thing about the whole ordeal is that Saban bronze statue. Just a lone lost zombie of Kyle Field. They should put it on a flat bed and put it next to the 12 bronze zombies at Kyle Field.

This. It's almost like Sankey knew of the Saban retirement plan two years ago. A cancer has been released upon all our houses.

Good info, I do not know that I ever saw anything on his shuttle run. Some math genius can probably figure out (that won't be me, lol) but the difference in 3.99 and 4.03 is probably a few inches. Good post.

Exactly, and it is the burst that separates them. A guy that goes to near his top speed asap, or a guy with a super quick first step or two (like you hear when talking about basketball players) is a yard ahead of a defender. He might not have the straight line speed to take it to the house, but turns a two or three yard gain into 5 to 7 yards. Plus cutting on dime which Johnny could do. Truly a once in a lifetime QB as far as all that.

You made me laugh. My youngest daughter was given a teacup yorkie by this guy she was seeing (think that sealed the deal because they are married). That ******* dog was, of course, tiny and would lie in wait for me to open the door. Before it was 6 inches open it would shoot out like a missile and then the chase was on. I could not come close to catching it, it thought we were playing a game.

My daughter used to put corn at the base of a tree for squirrels to eat. Gradually she would shift the location further and further from the tree. Eventually, she would open the door and that damn yorkie would catch and kill a squirrel. I've seen greyhounds run down a rabbit and I don't think her dog had that kind of speed but still very fast. Thanks for the memory and laugh, lol.
