It's my belief that it was never Nick Saban or even Lane Kiffin that effectively got Jimbo canned. It was the guy that humiliated Ohio State today. Yeah, maybe OSU was under-motivated and Mizzou was hyper-motivated, but still, Eli Drinkwitz is probably the NCAA FB coach of the year. Who saw their year coming?

What the heck. Jimbo sucking got him fired. Thats it.

FYI, that game last night sucked. Day way over rated as well and will be fired soon. Only two players did not play and they only score 3 points. Thats pathetic.

It is tough to take anything away from bowl games now. With the roster turn over, no team is the same as it was during the season.

Losing Coach Elko after the end of 2021 season, hired Coach Adazzio for the OL, then Malchow left shortly thereafter were the beginning cracks in the avalanche that went downhill with the home loss to Appalachian State in September 2022.

That, and the road record, plus his insistence on keeping Adazzio to coach the OL to block air, and his stupid offense, and…

This. It was his stubbornness.

If he let Petrino have complete control of the offense he'd probably still be coaching. That doesn't mean we'd be SEC Champs but we'd probably be 10-3 or 11-2 right now.

Jimbo's stubborness with a very predictable O scheme and very poor O-line coachin/development got him fired

I hope we always have performance incentivized contracts going forward also. Bjork really messed this one up.

The fact that QB3 AND 4 were visibly better than the one you rolled with all season.

Jimbo needed absolutely no help getting fired. His head coaching was so bad I'm not sure he didn't want to get fired and take his buyout. There was never enough A&M could give Jimbo.

A no incentive contract for an over the hill 60 year old coach is a recipe for disaster .
I never liked the hire and got roasted on here for criticizing him .

Jimbo's refusal to fire Addazio was his undoing.

90% + of the offensive struggles were a direct result of how horrible the o line played.

Jimbo never hired any coaches that were a threat to his job except maybe Petrino and he was forced to hire him. No young up and comers were hired.

This is when I lost faith in him. I still had hope because of his recruiting classes but, even all that talent couldn't overcome stubbornness to evolve as a coach and willingness to make in game adjustments.

The irony is Jimbo will be the head coach of Appalachian State and make the playoffs in 2025.

Kicking the dead horse here, but yeah, Jimbo's stubbornness, inability/refusal to adapt, and zero innovation on offense led to his firing. As soon as he was gone there were new offensive play calls that were successful and it seemed as though the hand cuffs were taken off the QB.

There was way more than addazio. Fisher really only recruited well. There was little development or players going 1st and 2nd round. Unorganized, stubborn, game day coaching, bla, bla, bla...

Don't forget about Jimbo's play calling

  • Addazio + Jimbo's play calling = DISATER.......

AND THE SAD FACT IS HARD HEADED JIMBO STILL THINKS THE PROBLEM WAS PLAYER EXECUTION

Jimbo was supposed to be a qb guru. His qb evaluations sucked. King and Calzada were inaccurate which cost us games. You would think that A&M qbs would receive some qb technique help like Johnny sought out, but there was no improvement in their technique. Weigman was a can't miss. Henderson and Reed are at A&M only because of Patrino. This is just one area that caused Jimbo to get himself fired. Should have been fired right after the Alabama game for calling that low % pass King to Stewart out of bounds when we had the fastest man on the field, Achane, for 1-2 yards.

So glad it didn't happen because Petrino unleashed still not the answer!

I am not sure it was another coach that ran Jimbo off, but if it was, it would be one inside the program.

The obvious guess would be Bobby Petrino an obvious snake of a human being.

However I am going with E Robinson, he was just too chummy with RB for me.

Jimbo's unwillingness to adapt to modern CFB offensive philosophy and his inability to hire effective assistant coaches is what got him fired. If Jimbo had fired Addazio and Dickey last year and hit it out of the park with an offensive line coach & offensive coordinator (and gave them the ability to do their job) he'd still be here and we're probably at 10 wins minimum..
but he didn't do any of that. He was loyal to Addazio and his own putrid offensive scheme. He hired one of the best cfb minds of this generation in Bobby Petrino & handcuffed him into running "his" offense that had failed spectacularly for the few seasons. Jimbo was good @ one thing: recruiting. That's legitimately the only trait he could hang his hat on.

I thought he'd be good, but thought the original contract was insane. The extension was just the height of stupidity.
