I have a hard time believing any NFL coordinator would leave the NFL for a college job.

Between the salary and having to deal with recruiting it just would not make any sense.

well, Billy did say that elko was going to look into some NFL guys so I wouldn't completely rule out the NFL guys.

and, with the amount of time this is taking to get done, it seems that it's going to be someone wanting to finish out their bowl game, or us waiting out a buyout, or an NFL guy.

Both current co-DC's at UW. Fill the three open defensive positions, run the 4-2-5 scheme, only make $750k each, and explains the delayed announcement.

Below is a list of current/recent Aggies that have college or pro coaching experience. How many would be worth a shot for a DC position?

NFL
Dennis Allen: New Orleans Saints - Head Coach
Dan Campbell: Detroit Lions - Head Coach
Kyle Caskey: Former Running Backs/Offense Quality Control
Aaron Glenn: Detroit Lions - Defensive Coordinator
Michael Hodges: New Orleans Saints - Linebackers Coach
Johnny Holland: San Francisco 49ers - Linebackers Coach
Todd Howard: Former Linebackers / DL Coach
Larry Jackson: Cleveland Browns - Director Strength and Conditioning
Kirk Parrish: Seattle Seahawks - College Scouting Coordinator
Zerick Rollins: Former Quality Control / QB Asst Coach
Shawn Slocum: Green Bay Packers - Special Teams Coach
Deandre Thompson: Detroit Lions - Defensive Quality Control

College
Bryan Dousing: Trinity - DL Coach
Price Ferguson: Saint Anselm College - OL Coach
Brian Gamble: Texas State - Defensive Coordinator
Lee Grimes: IMG Academy - OL Coach
Archie McDaniel: University of Houston - Linebackers Coach
Conner McQueen: Incarnate Word - OC/Quarterbacks Coach
Tommy Perry: Colorado State - Special Teams Coach
Jordan Peterson: Kansas - Defensive Backs, Co-Defensive Coordinator

***** shout out to DustysLineup for keeping the list going

Ummm, they went after Dan Campbell for the Head Coach position and he said no................ I HIGHLY doubt that he would change his mind for the DC position

I think it's taking so much time because Elko is having a hard time finding a good fit who is willing to accept the job for what we are willing to pay. He'll keep interviewing until he finds someone willing to take the job. There is no hurry from a recruiting standpoint so as long as you have someone in place before spring practice begins should be good.

It's going to be either Jesse Minter or Blake Baker.... I'm calling it right now.

The only current Aggie coaches that make sense to me as far as defensive coaching experience that are not already in an higher level HC/DC role:

Michael Hodges
- New Orleans Saints Linebackers Coach
- 12 years of pro/college experience
- ties to Louisiana recruiting area
- seen as a potential future NFL HC

Archie McDaniel
- University of Houston Linebackers Coach
- 16 years of college experience
- entirety of career in Texas or adjacent states
- future currently unsure with Holgorsen out as HC

Johnny Holland
- San Francisco 49ers Linebackers Coach
- 28 years of pro experience
- has spent 7 years with 49ers and unlikely to leave
- age (58) and declining health are also a factor

Did Holland get his degree? That would rule him out if he didn't.
We'll win this war, but we'll win it only by fighting and by showing the Germans that we've got more guts than they have, or ever will have. We're not going to just shoot the sons-of-b******, were going to rip out their living G*******d guts and use them to grease the treads of our tanks. We're going to murder those lousy Hun c********** by the bushel-f****** basket. War is a bloody killing business. You've got to spill their blood or they will spill yours. Rip them up the belly. Shot them in the guts.

When his name was brought up many years ago for a coaching spot, he did not have a degree. That could've changed because we are talking quite some time ago.

Nah, that was just a list of all of our former-players-turned-coaches. I went down that rabbit hole out of curiosity but the only ones that really make any sense are Michael Hodges or Archie McDaniel.
