Wow, wonder how much of anomaly that is. It also makes me wonder if there is an underlying reason for this tight of a grouping. Lots of people in this area obviously but there are a lot of people near Houston as well. Perhaps more resources outside of school for working on fundamentals? Some coaching guru resource in the region? Perhaps just a good year for the DFW area.

We should probably recruit Mater Dei, Bosco, Bishop Gorman, IMG, etc as well since those schools would annihilate any on that pic.

Houston area makes no sense that they get shut out. Just odd

It makes plenty of sense when you factor in school size. DFW tends to have larger school districts than Houston.

We've moved to recruiting Rhode Island exclusively.

It's one of those birthday timing things from Freakonomics. Those areas have more babies in January or November or whatever, because it's above the frost belt. That gives them a higher %age of players that receive elite development.

Prove me wrong

A lot of those are small schools close enough to the city that parents can commute. Better for the kids' education and if they are athletes then they all congregate in the same football powerhouse small schools.

The key for small school success is getting these athletes to transfer in for the small town school environment It's not necessarily a reason for A&M to recruit all these 2A to 4A schools around DFW.

I'd like to see the stats on how many years each player on the Gunter team, for example, has attended Gunter ISD.

the growing demographic in the Greater Houston area...

produces baseball players or soccer players

football or basketball players...not so much

Depends on schools make up

Meaning..... a school may keep its size and not break it up even though they could form 2 or 3 smaller high schools

Think this is what happened to the Woodlands
Ended up with a 2nd high school and now they don't do as well anymore

I know South Lake school district around the Dallas area is a very large school
Could make 2 high schools out of that area but choose not too for this reason

Neighboring Keller school district to south lake has 3 or 4 high schools now

Basically what does your talent pool look like

Dilution of talent pool is true and not disagreeing with that part. However, Southlake is smaller than Keller but far wealthier per capita. This means they can afford to pay for the best coaches which; in turn, brings great talent (players) to that district, which obviously translates into championships or at least deep playoff runs.

A little trick around that is to build 9th grade campuses or have Junior (9-10) & Senior (11-12) High Schools in order to preserve the Varsity FB team.
