I've never met a player on any of those multiple championships that didn't take pride in their accomplishments. I'd say most of them cherish it more than the hired guns do today.

I remember when we had the big four bowl games, Cotton, Sugar, Orange and Rose Bowls. One of those depending on which teams were playing, determined by the media rankings, decided the National Championship. The rest of the bowl games were for the teams with a few of losses.
