Jimbo had no incentive to do anything other than take care of Jimbo. Guaranteed money by the tens of millions. And a high school coach conference was a bother. I knew right then that his work ethic was the lowest I've seen in a long time and would not get us to a championship. Shame on him and the ones that gave him a guaranteed extension.12thMan9 said:
He no showed to their meeting last year. Only coach who was not there from the state.

recruited well OOS due to ERob and few other non Texas coaches. Elko needs to switch focus to Texas as NE pipeline could become limited w ERob and NWilliams at SU and getting all the PA, NJ kids we pursued in past years.

I don't mind starting in State but it's getting difficult to get top flight defensive fronts in adequate numbers from Texas alone. With tu and OU having good years I would imagine it will be more difficult.

It was a consistent stream of things but here are three big ones.
1) when he first got here he immediately reached out to 7 on 7 coaches. That was a bit of a slap in the face to the high school coaches.
2) He did not have anyone managing the relationships with the Texas schools. Most schools have a hospitality position. he did not put any effort into it like other coaches do.
3) he no showed at the conference last year.

THSCA is the most whiny association in America.
They just beg for their ring to be kissed every hour of every day.
Like most CEO coaches, Jimbo's coordinators didn't speak.
The ONLY time we ever heard from Elko, literally, was when he went to talk to the THSCA.
So you kiss their ring one time, and these coaches fall all over it.
(Meanwhile, they continue working with their kids to go wherever makes sense).
McGuire and Traylor have been the King Babies for the THSCA, and how's that going? (Hopefully not what we aspire to). But it grabs some press for a minute for some reason.
Jimbo didn't attend their conference because his son was having surgery that day.12thMan9 said:

You can blame one person for this.
Mike Leach
He was the first spread coach in this state at the college level and the TX HS Coaches and players loved the 7-on-7 offense it produced. But it's been mostly bad for linemen from this state. So the SEC teams have had a huge advantage against us because our QBs are always getting hurt behind poor OLines and the Defense hasn't made enough plays to get us wins on the road against good teams.

So according to this thread, it was either his son's surgery, Terry Price's funeral, SEC media days conflict, or just being lazy?
