They'd turn off their tv's and not watch any bowl or playoff games. Bowls have completely sucked for years now anyways, and the only thing the NCAA cares about is eyeballs watching it all.

Not sure I've watched any bowl games prior to Dec 28th and won't have a hard time tuning out this year.

I'm not trying to tell anyone not to watch it, just pointing out the obvious that if people actually wanted to send a message to this corrupt NCAA, the best message is to turn them off.

The NFL now has moral authority over the NCAA.

WWE is more legit than college football. At least the WWE owns up to being a sham.

You should. Bowl games are usually close and more entertaining than the playoff games.

or... if you just enjoy watching football and not trying to prove anything to anyone... then my spine would be just fine.

Watching bowl teams with 50% of their rosters "intact".

Sounds fun.

NCAA has next to nothing to do with the CFP. You're really upset with some combination of ESPN, SEC, and B1G. And good luck with that as a college sports fan.

I like watching college football, including bowl games. Not sure what that has to do with a spine.

Let us know how your boycott turns out! Guessing it will be similar to those after 2020.

This is exactly what we're seeing. They are -- and have been -- gradually turning CFB into WWE (or FIFA, equivalently). And now they're waiting to see how many fans they shake off.

The people who pack the stands to watch Olympic wrestling have almost nothing in common with the people who pack arenas for WWE. But, there was some point in the past where those populations were both part of the same base of "wrestling fans," and they've completely split apart now.

This year we have hit a major inflection point in the journey of "college football fans."

I don't understand the outrage other than the hated sips got into the playoff. This has always been subjective, and yes ESPN wants teams that bring eyeballs to their games.

Next year a 12 team tournament will fix 99% of the selection controversies. If people want to be mad about FSU not getting picked in a 4 girl beauty pageant, they should recall the ACC's role in vetoing a more expanded playoff for this year.

Me too. More college football is better than less college football.

I don't watch every minute of every bowl game, but there's a good chance I'll check out a game that's on if I'm not otherwise occupied.

I used to enjoy Bowl games.

The INSTANT the Texags and the SEC defense fund came out and said: "Bama just didn't get up for the Utah game". It was over for me. This was before any opt outs. It was even before the playoff itself.

Meaningless nonsense.

I'm not even sure people are watching. At all my family gatherings and events we'll have coming up over the next few weeks, bowl games will be on TV in the background. No one is actually watching them. Neilson isn't very good at capturing ratings.

Yeah.......that's a no for me dog.
I will watch every single bowl game good or bad.

For as much gate as the CFP committee is getting, they got it right. FSU most likely would get blown out by any of the 4 teams. It's might be a 24-0 type game, but it would still be a blow out. That offense was absolutely terrible against UF and UL.
God,....I really hate the sips!

You're not in a demographic meant to understand the outrage. It's that simple, and you kind of have to cast your thoughts a few hops wider (significantly more effort...) to really grasp it.

But don't worry, it's not your place to disrupt the system. It benefits you, and you're not irrational to, even disingenuously, posit a rational defense of it.

I think it all comes down to which fanbases were the biggest within their region at some point in time (ca. 2000). Those fanbases became the perennially-favored, in literally every facet of the sport. Fanbases like ours and fsu's, which were close seconds at that time, got stuck in the role of perennially-screwed-over. Both types of role assignments benefit ESPN's bottom line.

However, the perennially-screwed-over fanbases have to sit here and watch all kinds of passion and potential go to waste in order to protect the bottom line of ESPN et al. We'd be irrational to perpetuate the system.

Not my point at all. Some get it, others think it's a hissy fit. No, the rulers of college football have created nothing but a slimy sport that is more corrupt than the Russian mafia. Now we have mayonnaise bowls with 20 fans in attendance and participation ribbons for everyone wanting to put something in their trophy case.

Well to me it has always been obvious that some schools have more media appeal and will win any popularity contests where making $ is a factor. Also, that college football is far from a meritocracy and institutional advantages means Texas beats Rice 95 times out of 100. The old bowl system where Richard Nixon declared the Texas Longhorns the national champs was flawed. The BCS was flawed. The 4 team CFP is flawed.

All this is known. Fans by and large still watch the games.

<shrugs> The twelve team playoff starting next year really improves the process in my opinion. I am excited about a system where an underdog FCS school will have regular access to the playoff, and it will solidify the notion that a late loss should not keep you out of the tournament (I see you, Georgia).

So this is fair. I wrote a bit just above acknowledging college football is a bit of a rigged system. The blue bloods always get the benefit of the doubt and the media props them up because it is to their advantage to do so.

That said, I assert there are plenty of non-historic blue bloods such as A&M that have the resources and potential to do every bit as well as the Bamas of the world. It just takes good people and some luck as well.

Again, FSU should be mad at their (the ACC's) decision to vote against an expanded playoff when most of the country had a collective hissy fit after the Texas/OU/SEC announcement. They ended up cutting off their own nose just to spite the SEC.

If A&M was in the CFP we wouldn't be sitting here watching half our team opt out of the game. Or portal out. And you KNOW that's coming. It's started already. Our bowl lineup will barely be recognizable. You're not getting the team that went to battle for us all year. If they won't bother playing, why should I bother watching? I saw my "real team" play during the season. Sucks to have to lump all the kids that are committed enough to the school to play that final game in with the rest of them, but at that point you're just kinda watching a glorified scrimmage with a trophy at the end.

That's like saying if we wanted to put a stop to the excessive coaching contracts we should not pay our coach. Just doesn't work unless everyone one gets on board and that's not going to happen.
