I would support, if the players voted to support it, let the no voters stay home and have all of the supportive players play……play the 3rd and 4th stringers and have a good time.

There's an advantage for people who want to see the Aggies in Houston.. There's an advantage to beat okie lite again for old times sake. I think it could be a fun game

I think letting the players go home now with all the transfers and decommits would be a horrible idea. Get them together and let Elko share his vision for moving forward.

Elko won't be coaching the game. There will likely be more transfers.

Sure... And the people that want to see the Ags play will spend zero time in the gym and practice prepping for a meaningless bowl game.

Have you been to Kyle Field on game day? The only running some do is to McDonald's.

It does provide 15 practices for the players that want to stay to show Elko what they have. Basically, an open audition.

It would obviously be more useful as a practice opportunity without a coaching change.

We quit on the gator bowl, terrible idea. Surprised any serious coach would do that.

And a lot of people on here were complaining about the Gator Bowl, that it wasn't "exciting" enough and were happy when we cheesed out of it.

This game allows Elko to see an in person view of the team and allows him evaluate the players better.

Also I'm sure if you ask the players they'd want to play.

This attitude of "playoffs or nothing" is ruining college football and has already ruined bowl season.

Unless you are Alabama a single loss means "the season is ruined!"

Watch the games for fun and enjoyment. There's only one nation champion.

There are 3 college football games left. All bowl games with no opportunity to advance (except national championship) are a waste of time. The extra practice might be nice, but in the Ags' case, they will not even be practicing under Elko's system.

No one's arguing people in general could use some gym time. What that has to do with a Bowl games is a mystery.

Because they have become 100% meaningless
They are scrimmages now.
Teams play with skeleton rosters due to portal and opt outs.

This.

It used to be a reward for having a great season. Now there's so many of them that a 5-7 team can go to a bowl because a spot needs filling. Combine that with opt outs, most of the time the team playing ain't the team you followed that season.

The almighty dollar has ruined college football more than anything else.

It's unbelievable how ignorant some Aggies are that believe opting out of a bowl game in the city that provides some of the best talent in the country, as well as allowing more practice time and possible opportunities for current players.

Seriously, what is WRONG with you people??!!

So what? It's the same for both teams.

Even if it's just tiddlywinks, I want to see an Aggie victory.

We'll soon be talking about how short the season is, how it seem like it's going to take forever for football to be here again etc...

Bowl games are awesome. People complaining about more games to watch in the greatest sport on earth doesn't make much sense to me, the people have different tastes

The zoo is full of little *****es that complain about everything. Let your balls drop boys. Bowl practices are always a good thing and one last game to end years never bad.
We'll win this war, but we'll win it only by fighting and by showing the Germans that we've got more guts than they have, or ever will have. We're not going to just shoot the sons-of-b******, were going to rip out their living G*******d guts and use them to grease the treads of our tanks. We're going to murder those lousy Hun c********** by the bushel-f****** basket. War is a bloody killing business. You've got to spill their blood or they will spill yours. Rip them up the belly. Shot them in the guts.

I love the bowl season and will watch as many games as possible.
I'm a season ticket holder to the cotton bowl.
Bowl season is great. Best time of the year . Holidays and football.. what's better?

Having said that.. there is no denying that bowls outside the CFP are meaningless. The NY6 bowls carry a little more weight but not much.
We have this day and age of transfer portal and opt outs so does a win in the Texas or Alamo or Music City bowl really mean anything?
No nothing.
Is a bowl win a recruiting pitch? No not at all.
NIL and Facilties are your recruiting pitch this day and age, not a meaningless bowl game.

They are basically glorified scrimmages now

Again I love bowl season and will watch as many games as possible .. but it's not the same as it was prior to CFP, prior to NIL and prior to opt outs / transfer portal

And next year when the CFP expands ( which it 100% should) the bowls outside the CFP will hold even less value for P5 teams.
Your mid major yes the bowls mean more to them because that's their pinnacle .. for the P5 teams the bowls outside the CFP are pretty much like the NIT basketball tournament

the Florida Cotton Bowl experience is forever etched in people's minds throughout college football

the opt-out depleted Gators were absolutely annihilated and embarrassed on national TV by OU

the program has still not recovered 3 years later

The only advantage is extra practice time.

Seeing a depleted Aggie roster play in a tiny stadium in a meaningless bowl game does not excite me at all

Given we almost have no staff left and Elko coached here two years ago... Maybe he should... I know it's unusual to bring a guy in and have him coach the bowl game... But this may be the case.

Plus, extra practices for the kids. They get to continue doing what they love. The like the swag that bowls give away. The 4-5 days leading up to the game is usually packed with cool activities.

Of course, none of that is appreciated by the handful of kids with crappy attitudes and a disgusting entitlement complex.

I'd say that's more modern culture more than anything else. If you're not number one in what you do, you might as well go away.
