A&M can prosper independent of whatever Texas does. I mean see what Auburn has accomplished - they have a recent NC.
That said, I freely admit Texas is not where it is today without the impending SEC membership. Many recruits mention the conference as a partial reason for picking Texas though NIL undoubtedly counts for more.

Who exactly is begging to play TU again?
We should not play them next year in football. We have already surpassed them in baseball and basketball. There's nothing to gain by playing them.
To me it looked like most of the people complaining about not playing tu were old Ags, like pre-80s.
It's a reality. It doesn't matter what fans want in college football, it only matters what the networks and university regents want.
We didn't play them all these years, many which we would have wiped the floor with them, and here we are. And it's your assertion that PLAYING them would be a problem. Sure. Just like it was from 84-94.

That is not true about passing them in baseball and basketball. They are better at basketball. Beating them one year in the world series doesn't mean we have passed them in baseball.

Can't really blame them; they've had zero in-state road trips. Our last in-state road game was Tceh in 2011. LSU is interesting for people in Southeast Texas where we have more Louisiana ties and are around LSU people more often, but I'm not sure how much people in Central Texas or West of 35 care about it.

We're in the best conference in the nation. We've been playing Alabama every year. Now we're supposed to be petrified that we have to play UT? They're just going to be another tough game on the schedule. If we can play up/be coached up to reach the potential of the talent level we ALREADY HAVE, then we should welcome challenging opponents. There's no bravado in that. How exactly has A&M surpassed Texas in basketball and baseball?
Texas was in the Elite 8 last year (their 8th trip) an Aggie basketball has never made it beyond the Sweet 16.

The old days playing them weren't as great as you guys remember.
You know you're right! There's no reason to think that the future will be anything like the last 140 years of our shared history. Or the way they've ruined every other conference they've ever been a part of. They're probably just waiting for the right moment to rectify the whole 2/3 vs 1/3 PUF inequity.
