any chance we lose some offensive players that bonded with BP this year? That would be the ultimate if Arky not only attracts BP but a few skill players as well that gelled with his system.

I would have liked to see what his offense was going to do, but also not sad. I guess we'll see it at Arkansas.

while better than Jimbo's, Sumlin's offense always sucked against the good teams like Alabama, Lsu, etc. But idk what the difference is in air raid vs other spread attacks anyway, tbh, but there must be one.

Elko's choice for OC is probably the most significant personnel decision that he will make

It depends on what era of Sumlin. He never really had a set offense and took a CEO style approach. 2012 and 2013 were very similar. I think 2013 had a bit more pistol with an h back. Those offenses beat Bama, and the one that didn't still scored 42 points. 2014 we were still passing the ball a lot but tweaked a things formation wise and a bit concept wise. A lot more y-off type looks and such. 2015 we tried to throw RPOs in there and focus on running the ball more with y-off TEs and H backs.

If we went air raid today it most likely wouldn't look anything like what we ran back then, the offense had changed so much. At minimum I would assume it would have a y off TE and we would run counter as opposed to being a strictly zone team. Outside of Leach all air raid systems have added that as an answer to the tite front. We never did back then because Alabama and Georgia type teams were still running over/under fronts as their base nickel package. I don't think they added their mint package in nickel until after 2015.

It indicates to me the article about Jimbo thst came out last week and him muzzling the offense was accurate. No way he was going to do anything significant against ACU, but opened it up during LSU.

He'll replace Pittman after next year. I would imagine Pittman was forced to make this hire. I can't believe he would make it on his own.

There is a policy that Arkansas has that states if you were fired for cause you cannot be rehired unless the university's President signs off on it directly I believe. I would imagine this is a way to have him rehired as OC and then to eventually take over as HC once they part ways with Pittman.

Wouldn't surprise me if he wants to eventually retire at Arkansas. I know he absolutely loved it when he was the head coach before (apparently a little too much)

You know damn well Petrino will be the head coach next year. He had pretty good success against us the last time he coached there.

I agree, and I am happy to see him leave. His coaching talent notwithstanding, his moral baggage was too heavy.

Obviously in Fayetteville, bygones are bygones after 12 years. Personally, my dislike for Petrino stems from the classless manner in which he left the Falcons. Good riddance.
