Seems like we were after him hard last time we were in the market for a HC. He's a consistent winner. He's used to recruiting Texas. He knows how to hire assistants. He's had quite a few big wins and he may not be as committed to OSU with Oklahoma and Texas leaving the Big XII.

He's committed to Oklahoma state, he's been there since he was 18.
Probably most people rightly assume if he can't win a B12 title there is zero chance he can win an SEC title.

Which guys are we looking at that have won any power 5 conference championships, moretheless having done so at a mediocre program like Oklahoma State?
Only one conference championship. Now go run the numbers on conference champions of the official list.
Would be a step down for him personally given he's an OSU breed.

1998 was the last time we won a conference title. Since then we paid so much money for big name coaches and then the "buyout" to make them leave. People were excited when Fran replaced Slocum, then when Sherman replaced Fran, Then Sumlin when he replaced Sherman, Then the savior Fisher came......we look like fools paying all this money for no results. Let's find a ball coach and it doesn't have to be a big name someone that comes and takes the money and that's all they do. Gundy does more with less talent than any coach we ever had. He has or HAD to try and compete with oU and tEXAS for recruits but the 4/5 stars will never go to osu over those other big shcools. Now that those two schools are out of the big 12 next year, osu will probably be the big dog in that conf.

Two things about him:
1. His teams get better as the season goes on; and
2. He does more with less.
I think he's a pretty good coach but probably too much of a nut to take a chance on.
