Extremely unlikely he was every comming here. We would have to miss on multiple candidates for him to even have a chance. Also no money UTSA pays him will make him off limits to us if we decide we want him.

I don't want the guy, but I find it hard to believe UTSA could out bid us for anything.
I wonder if part of the motivation for interviewing him is tied to optics with high school coaches. Is it better to interview Traylor and ultimately go a different direction or not interview and the coaching network thinks A&M snubbed him? I would think the former is the better play.

Every hot coach is leaking rumors tying them to our search. Traylor's team is just the most ham handed of the bunch. It's free leverage to get that extension. Just the whiff that your successful coach might leave can be enough to talk some gullible AD into offering a ridiculous extension.
What's funny to me is that this is from San Antonio. For 20 years (1990-2010), every time a NFL team wanted a new stadium, they floated the idea that they might leave. And inevitablly San Antonio was listed as an option because of the Alamodome. Which was objectively hilarious that an NFL team would move to a stadium with few luxury boxes and really a sad, depressed interior. But people ate it up until the Raiders, Saints, or whomever might come up with their real plan.

I think he stays at utsa for a few more years. He has complained enough to get a little more NIL money and facilities but eventually he will leave for a big12 program in my opinion.

I'm from SA and this always cracked me up as well. The Alamodome wasn't up to nfl standards when it opened in 1993. If the stupid ass city had invested in a first class stadium, they probably would have an NFL team by now.FarmerJohn said:

On a related note, it boggles my mind that stadium architects apparently only recently figured out that it's a good idea to let some natural light inside of roofed stadia.

The Alamadome interior, especially compared to facilities 30 years ago, was and is in no way "sad" or "depressed". It was roomy, comfortable and mega-convenient overlooking the beautiful downtown San Antonio and literally being walking distance to one of the top tourist areas in our country.
The problem, as you mentioned, was the lack of number and quality of the luxury suites. But the game-watching sightlines are terrific. There is literally no bad seats in that place.

Seems to me candidates like Traylor believe that getting an A&M interview boosts their credibility with other top tier programs.
He knows UTSA will never match P5 program resources.
He's playing the long game to get his name out for the next interview
