based on this list we should be loookg for a coach somewhere between 39-45 years of age. seems to be the sweet spot for our success.

That's bonkers Sherman was only 54. In my memory, he looked and generally seemed like he was 65 or so.

So Lanning was 34-35 when he took the Oregon job but Schumann isn't ready at 33? I guess Schumann has a lot of maturing to do in the next year or so.

For these worthy candidates, how many divisions, conference or national championships won? And their coaching career record at each school.

If A&M is a top tier coaching destination (if sources are to be trusted), then it should be able to attract a coach with a proven track record, not just the latest one hit wonder looking to cash in.

These ages generally align with when corporate executives get to their roles. VP/SVP in 30s then CEO in 40s to early 50s.

VP/SVP = OC/DC
CEO=HC

Ages of coaches are getting younger for one reason: eliminating the head coach position would be eliminating a huge source of wasteful money in the new world. This is all a trial to show that coaching experience is not necessary due to the decades of data which can be analyzed.

Why are coaches needed today? To recruit players and make decisions, right?

1. Decision making of a head coach will be removed within 20 years in favor of an algorithm. The networks were already pushing this by saying "the algorithm says go for it here" in games at the end of the season.

2. Recruiting has been neutered with portal and NIL. An algorithm will make decisions on who to offer soon. Coaches of today and the next two or less decades will be AI stewards more so than actual decision makers. High schoolers and existing college players will receive some sort of notification when they are accepted. A full marketing blitz will ensue via social media when a player accepts the offer.

Baseball is the obvious trial pro sport, but it is coming to all sports eventually.

That's back when people only lived to be 29.

Elko at 46 is about the same age as Emory Ballard and RC Slocum both 45. Emory was a great coach and a fantastic human being and he and RC are two of the best in our history. Jackie Sherrill turned 42 the night of our 42-10 win over tu to earn the Cotton Bowl berth vs Bo Jackson and Auburn.

If Mike Elko can come close to the success these 3 gentlemen earned with the Texas Aggies we will contend and ultimately win the SEC. All three of these coaches either shared first place in the SWC or won it outright several times. Emory was 2-2 vs tu, Jackie and RC coached the 10 out of 11 wins over tu from 1985 through 1995.

What had Lanning done prior to getting the Oregon job vs Schumann? Schumann was only made DC this past season.

In other words, it's not necessarily the age but the experience.

My Lord I'm getting old. I'm Lincoln Riley's age. Elko is only 7 years older than me!
