Why not Deboer..? UW was awful and they don't recruit at a top 10 level or have a hotbed of recruiting grounds. They have to compete with USC and Oregon and they are legit. He is way more accomplished than Traylor and Elko who seem to be our top targets (at least the media says).

I have a hard time believing he'd leave a contending team to come to us. Probably a lot less pressure where's he at than there would be here.

Oh, you mean a program that has won a national championship in my lifetime and had another healthy run under Petersen and made the playoffs out of the Pac 10 a few years ago won't just lose their coach to us because we want him?

People act like we're just gonna pick whoever we want from wherever we want AND they're gonna ditch their team midweek to come join us. We make our own Aggie jokes without realizing it and then cry because the big bad ol national media makes us a laughing stock.

My concern is he has never really coached and developed the players he has had to recruit.

He has a Heisman QB that is 23 and a 6th year player.

The P12 plays a different brand of football than the SEC.

He may be great. He may be Coach of the Year... but I'm on the fence with him. Take him or leave him.

Dude was a three star that he recruited to Indiana while he was OC there...

No he didn't. Penix was on campus 11 months before DeBoer joined them.

I don't think it's a matter if why not. I'm sure we would love to have him, it's more of a matter if he wants to leave the PNW for College Station.

Oregon state is also very good this year. Both of these coaches would be excellent hires.

People thought it was complete joke that we would even approach Jimbo… and then he came here. It didn't work out but there's a lot of things that make A&M a very attractive job to another coach. I don't think any coach looks at A&M's investment in football facilities and NIL and thinks "I can't win there". It really just comes down to how much A&M is willing to pay to poach another big time coach. Do they want to make another splash hire or is there someone at a smaller program they feel is just as good?

Agree, hell I'd love it if he did. But there's literally no reason for him to do it. We're gonna either get a retread or a "no-name" assistant or g5 guy. I'm ok with finding an assistant/g5 because everyone's gotta start somewhere. Transfer portal and NIL have changed the landscape. Saban's dominance + Smart's getting Georgia back in the brightest spotlight since the Herschel/Dooley days means there's not a lot of long term proven winners anymore. The same handful of schools rotate the big trophies and thats about it.

Gut feeling is Dabo talks his way out of Clemson and he winds up here because BMAs love making the flashy headlines. And we're back here in 3-6 years. It smells so familiar to the "don't care got Jimbo" days. Let's find a big name that had recent success but is clearly on the downside of his career and throw crazy money at em. Yeehaw.
