We will be going down the same road that t.u. went down with Tom Herman. Please don't let it be Traylor. That hire would set us back at least 5 years just like it did when our little brother brought on Herman.

Traylor has never won a bowl game as a head coach and has a losing record against teams with a pulse. He's fine for utsa and I hope he stays there and has a very successful career. Just please don't let him come here just to get fired in 4 years because he couldn't break 8-4…

I haven't seen any threads with this take on Traylor. Also, it's kind of on everyone's mind who we're going to hire.

Look at the list that Bjork put together as criteria. If he means what he wrote, then Traylor does not meet them. I don't think he's a likely top candidate.

I'm not as certain as OP is that he wouldn't work. I'm not really certain of anything anymore.

Who knows how it'll turn out.

We thought that Franchione and Fisher were great hires. Didn't work out.

I think most people were willing to give Sumlin a chance and that he was worth a shot. Didn't work out.

People were lukewarm about Sherman. Didn't work out.

All to say is that hiring a coach is a crapshoot. Just cross your fingers and hope for the best.

Hiring a coach is a crapshoot when the people in charge don't know what they're doing (Sharp, Dabney, etc.)

There is no more "5 years behind anymore". The portal changed that.

You can make a 12 team playoff in year 2 with the right portal work no matter how dire a coach makes it.

If its Traylor, so be it. If it doesn't work out neither did the last 4 guys so flip the coin again. Just remember the 5 year rebuild is over.

I was pissed about the Fran hire and I wanted Smart when we hired Sumlin. I was cautiously optimistic about Fisher but that was a dud. Sherm was the only one I was excited about because he had had success at the highest level and knew how to build a team (which was evidenced by our 2012 success).

Yeah now that I look at it, considering the rate of threads being uploaded, it's easy to miss. So I apologize for that.

I did see a ton of "no to Traylor" threads yesterday, so this is definitely a pretty popular opinion right now.
