Go ahead, tell me why he would be a bad hire.

Hustle Harder
Undefeated there. Did great at Coastal Carolina before that and Charleston Southern before that.Greetings said:
Good coach; I'm kinda wary of anything coming out of Liberty.
The way I look at it is you either get an up-and-comer with something still left to prove or someone who already accomplished something and is looking for the job to retire at or easy street.Ags2013 said:
Same reason I'm adverse to Traylor. Competition level isn't even close to SEC
Well, he's certainly been vetted and passed on in multiple coaching carousels by what we would consider to be "inferior" schools?Quote:

Who passed on him?20ag07 said:Well, he's certainly been vetted and passed on in multiple coaching carousels by what we would consider to be "inferior" schools?Quote:

So I guess maybe our "search firm" folks would see something…all the rest didn't?
(You don't get passed on with that resume that often unless something doesn't make sense…)
Wikipedia says $4 million/year. Not sure how accurate that is.Greetings said:Liberty does, allegedly, pay exceptionally well.HustlerAggie said:Who passed on him?20ag07 said:Well, he's certainly been vetted and passed on in multiple coaching carousels by what we would consider to be "inferior" schools?Quote:

He probably doesn't even want to leave Liberty after only one year anyway.

I don't get how people argue this. A good coach is independent of the conference he's in. Washington's head coach was in the Mountain West. Lanning was a freaking assistant who had never been a HC. Mike Norvell was at an American athletic conference school. I can go on and on
This "has to have an SEC connection" is mind boggling to me.85AustinAg said:
The short answer is no. You've got to have some kind of SEC connection or experience. We are in a different league and Liberty to A&M without ever having coached in the SEC is a no.

That's why we're in the position we're in. Aggies have such an inferiority complex we think we need someone from a big conference or school to win. The last coaches after Slocum are from
SEC
NFL
Conference USA
ACC
The coach from Conference USA had the best win %
I'm actually with you on that. i was just having fun. Also, I'm a big believer in a very small guarantee contract, with generous allowances for top coordinators and very big payouts for results. A successful coach, and one who knows he will succeed, will not be worried about moving on from A&M up the ladder, or worried about his job security.dBoy99 said:Divining Rod said:Quote:

That's exactly why we should hire him. We struck out with all the big names.
We need a guy in his mid-40s who wants to be a big name. Not an over the hill coach who wants to get rich, fat, & lazy.
