We're in the lolpoors section and had spread out a bit because nobody was sitting within 20 feet of us. After complaining, says "we'll just sit up here behind you with our friends." Great! Should have started with that thought!

Pre-game festivities happen, team is setting up for kickoff, everyone is standing. This same guy starts complaining he can't see if we're going to stand. I've had enough at this point, but politely explain we'll sit after kickoff. I asked if this was his first game. He said, "no, we're season ticket holders." I not so politely replied, "then you should know how this works!"
Should have known he was a 2%-er then. Confirmed when he left at the 4th.

It's the nosebleeds regardless, so sitting in their seats didn't gain anything.

Last time I sat in the zone on the bench seating it was like musical chairs.

OP, I get you, thank you for explaining. Seems like you did okay and the other guy is the jackass.

I'd always been taught that standing throughout the game was a tradition for students, not for everyone else. I have no problem with anyone doing it whenever they can reasonably, but disregarding other people's enjoyment of the game sucks too.

And what's wrong with showing up 15 min before kickoff?

What there is some certain time you have to show up before kickoff before others around you start to judge you? I though that was the kickoff lol
