If we did, "Enter Sandman" as the opening song, would it be awesome?

Umm - The 100k+ fans in the stadium. Or is the whole game day atmosphere supposed to be geared to the players and recruits?

But yeah, Metallica probably not it anymore.

Just FYI - current student population % by ethnicity:
white - 51%
hispanic - 22%
asian - 10%
black - 3%
other or unknown - 14%

umm sign me up for not having the the whitest "game day atmosphere" in college football (we're already not far from it)

Booo Metallica... Megadeth is better.

Symphony of Destruction
Trust
Train of Consequences
Kill the King

Any of those would be better... hell even Risk (which is admittedly terrible).

Can we all agree that texas country, remixed, would be the best way to satisfy all?

Get some Roger creager, REK, Rich O'Toole...

Not a damn electronic band that copies the very thing that you're trying to ban to be woke

Screw them, give us some bad publicity. We know who we are and the media doesn't get to ever redefine us. Keep being Aggies and stop cowering to coaches or media because they'll only want more and you'll never be good enough

Why not just pick something by the Steve Miller Band if you want old music that has sucked for dozens of years?

Enter Sandman was the first song in which Metallica paired with Bob Rock, formerly the producer of Def Lepperd. Just like with DL, he took a really cool band and sold them out for cash, but at least he made a lot of it. Sandman was the song that brought 15 year old girls to the band and their music. It sucked then, and it sucks now.

I literally can not think of any song outside of Aerosmith that gives off more of a vibe of "we want to be cool but we are just middle aged fat men who stand back and admire the job we did mowing our lawn on a 108 degree day in Flower Mound while eagerly anticipating getting back inside so we can watch tv."

That reminds me of the horrible Houston Texans song by Clay Walker.

I would vote for "Future World" by Pretty Maids though....

If they change the entrance song they will probably pick a song by The Killers since nothing in modern music says "generic white people music" more than The Killers

Metallica is so washed lol, these don't exactly induce fear when they can be heard on classic rock radio now.

If we're doing metal (which is way overdone now), at least go with the Texas option in Pantera.

Enter Sandman came out in 1991. Which makes it about 10-14 years older than most of the students at A&M.

I graduated in '87. I can't imagine wanting a song played in Kyle Field that was 10-14 years older than I was when I was a student. That would've been a song from 1951-1955.

Nobody my age would've thought any of those songs were cool when we were at A&M. I'm fairly confident that would be the same with today's students and songs from 1991.

I like the 90's too, but when you do the math…

The song in the OP came out in 91. 91 is as far from now as 59 was from 91.

The top song in 1959 was Ballard of New Orleans by Johnny Horton (which I actually kind of like, but it was really, really old to 1991 me, especially since Johnny Horton died way before I was born).

There's a chance college kids won't think 90's metal is very cool, that's all I'm saying. And a lot of us are in denial about getting old.

I'm gonna say this again. Thunderstruck. Some of y'all don't understand what kind of energy a timeless guitar solo like the opening of that song in addition to the crowd chanting would bring to the players and fans. It would also look amazing at night with a sick flashing light show.

No that song isn't even that cool and it is old AF.

VA tech loves it because that's their tradition.
I don't think we should use Enter Sandman because Virginia Tech famously uses it. We would look like we are copying them. However, if you don't think that song sounds good, you have no taste. Let me guess, you think Power is cool?

Enter Sandman may be 32 years old, but the fact that you still hear it played underscores that it is timeless. No one is going to care about the song Power in 20 years (I don't think hardly anyone cares about it now). No one will be listening to any of the "hit" hip hop songs that have come out in the last 10 years in another 20 years.

I would rather pick an actual good song than some crap song like Power.

You have quite the imagination if you hear Enter Sandman and you think of middle aged men mowing their lawns. The band members were also in their late 20's when they released that song. What are you smoking?

Except you hear old rock songs constantly no matter where you go. Old rock is still played regularly. I don't remember hearing a lot of 1950s music in the 1990's. It is also fact that older music is selling better than newer music. Streaming of older music exceeds newer music. That part is fact. As to why, my view is because most newer music just sucks and doesn't sound good. There are many theories on why modern music doesn't sound good. "Artists" just use computers to create the music. Actually playing instruments like Van Halen, Boston, Dream Theater, etc. takes practice and talent. Modern artists aren't going to spend years getting proficient on their instruments. You also have auto-tuners so many of these singers can't even sing worth crap. The result is simple and crappy sounding music.

I went to a summer camp with a bunch of high school kids last summer and at the lunches in the cafeteria they played rock songs more than anything else, and almost all the kids knew the songs. There were only a handful of 1950s songs I knew in the 1990s.
