There always has to be a big gaping hole that allows the opposing D to easily penetrate. There is always a position group on one if not both sides of the ball that is so lousy that it brings down the whole unit.
Last year it was the O Line and the run defense. The run D was like throwing a hotdog down a hallway. The O line was like a warm jar of mayonnaise, and still is. Hell, we're sacking ourselves still. It's a new tradition now. Our QB is always injured because he gets smashed all game every week.
Now that we've figured out the LB's and DL, our secondary gets gashed all game and hands out career stats to QB's.
If we could even have the OL and secondary be mediocre at least maybe we would have a half ass chance. But that would require at least mediocre coaching as well. Tall order for $80 mil I suppose. There's not a plug big enough to cover the gaping holes we have across the entire program, it needs to be flushed out.
