We're also playing with Jumbo on the sidelines. An even bigger shortcoming.

Without Max, I don't think we beat Auburn. They had Conner's number and weren't ready to play against anyone else.

We saw Weigman under Jimbo/Petrino vs Miami and Auburn.

for the record, I remembered we were.

I'm not bashing Max either, esp in light of what he has to deal with for an O line. But he is what he is. A backup.

Conner is a quicker decision maker with a better arm. Do those things win these last two games?

Remember, our coach has only been on the job 6 years racking up top 10 recruiting classes. How could he possibly be held accountable for having enough quality players? How could he possibly line up the right coaching staff? It takes time.

(This is sarcasm, despite being worded like the OP.)

QB is probably about 20th down the list of our problems. The coaching staff takes up the top 10.

Then why does our OL suck every year?

Conner was taking too many hits and is out and now max is taking too many hits as well. Can't protect the qb no matter who is taking snaps. Also can't run the ball which puts more pressure on poor pass protection.

Has Max gotten better or worse since he played at LSU? Max isn't the #1 problem. The OL is. Who didn't go out in the off season and recruit better linemen? Who is the coach that sucked last year and this year? Who retained that coach? You would think that going against our D line would make our oline better, but it hasn't. This O falls on Assadio. He is the #1 problem. He should be let go this week before we are down to QB #3.

Ohio St won the CFP with their 3rd string QB.

With the way our OLine has been performing, I don't think JFF would've gotten his Heisman if he had this OLine/ OLine coach. Yes: Max is our backup QB and not playing like CW, but still good enough to win if: we actually had a decent OLine AND calling plays that don't take long to develop (even Petrino can't override the Jumbo factor...still seems like Jumbo is influencing play calling).

Aren't you the guy who also predicted us to beat Bama and then for Bama to lose to Ole Miss?

The frustrating thing is they make all the excuses for the root cause of all this: the head coach.

It feels like they're doing this more for Jimbo than people ever did for Sumlin when he was our HC.

The most experienced QB on the field gives us the best development playing time for the OL. But that doesn't mean getting series in for the QB room isn't possible.

Many people are trying to make excuses for Jimbo/ Jumbo because many are thinking a veteran coach:
- With a previous natty with another school
- @ Year 6 in his tenure @ A&M
- Access to great talent base and facilities, and
- Getting compensated quite well
He can't possibly be the root cause for A&M FB woes/ mediocre results and must be the backup QB. Jimbo's reasons for losses during the post-game are like "rinse and repeat" or "replay the record" responses from 2022...smh. The "gotta execute better, gotta coach them better" excuses all start/ end with him. Jimbo has continually proven he CANNOT get the job done particularly with his current coaching staff (particularly our crapa$$ OLine play/ OLine coach and Jimbo's offensive schemes he can't get right even with a "supposed" dedicated OC just calling Jimbo's plays). Close losses to schools are still "L"s...

Max isn't the main problem - we all know this (just some are still in denial). Finish the season out with a > .500 record and cut our losses by terminating Jimbo as HC either ideally end of this season or next season (when SEC newcomers like t.u. clock us on nat'l TV).

Max is a very good backup, but not starter material. He's done a nice job, but he just doesn't make snappy movements or decisions.

This is why he's the backup.

Couple that with poor line play and you have our current offense…

Not buying the excuses. Utah has played with a third string qb and his sub all season long plus 19 starters injured, but has only one loss. TCU brought in their backup and humiliated BYU on Saturday.
Either A&M just makes bad coaching hires or the culture prevents them from being successful. It's got to be one or the other.

Max is a better than average backup, especially when running for his life and on his back most of the game.

Max beat us two years ago on a last second dart on the sideline for a TD.

Calzada was a backup when we beat Bama in 21.

Excuses are like ass holes.....we ARE NOT a good football program, never have been. Too many "good ole boys" who won't move on and get out of the way.

In my opinion, the offensive line is not holding up. They don't give any of our QBs enough time to throw the ball. Also half of the snaps on shot gun are at the QBs feet. I've never seen anyone grab and snap the ball the way foster does, doesn't look right and the results are evident where half of them barely reach the QB.
