The goal Saturday is to meet or exceed the gold standard:

Snowing cotton was 85. This game was 87. There had a been a rule change that season that allowed the QB to wait if signals couldn't be heard. Dumb rule that didn't last.

This. This is the most raucous Kyle field has ever been.
9-6 instant classic
It also helped you had to jump around and get loud as hell to try and stay warm.Ghost of Bisbee said:Andrew Dufresne said:

Wrong. Stadium capacity was much larger in 2010. You couldn't hear as well as you did 25 years earlierDuckySams said:Ghost of Bisbee said:Andrew Dufresne said:

Saw both. Nebraska game wasn't in the same league as 85 (or 87 for that matter).
Such BS. And they were going to flag us for the crowd noise too! And y'all wanted to get back in bed with these toxic they/thems.trailrunner said:
I don't recall what the rules were at the time regarding "crowd noise" but how typical that the refs would hold play for tu until they could hear better.
Man all these years later and I still have so much hate for the sips.
You probably just couldn't hear as well in 2010DuckySams said:Ghost of Bisbee said:Andrew Dufresne said:

. JK, just giving you a hard time. Where you sit can also matter.beerad12man said:
There's simply no logistical way that was the loudest kyle field has ever been. It doesn't work that way.
Thank the DJ and the piped in music for that. 2010 Nebraska was the best I've ever seen Kyle Field in person. It reminded me of the 4th quarter/OT comeback against Okie Lite in '97 except it was like that the entire game. He's too little to remember it, but that was MiniSlicer's first game to attend.William_C_G said:beerad12man said:

Yes, we have more fans in the stadium now. But too many arrive late, leave early, and don't yell loudly when they are there.
They wouldn't bother today because the rules are different. Back then the play clock didn't start until the QB got under center, and the rules allowed the refs to throw a flag on the crowd for being too loud.C2 Ag 93 said:
Not taking away from that game (I wasn't there so have to go on other eyewitnesses). But I wonder if that was also a time where refs actually cared how loud the crowd was being. That is, it just seems like it was the loudest since the refs were pausing the game? Now a days, refs wouldn't bother.
FWIW - I recall some KSU game in Kyle maybe right around 1999 / 2000 after we won the Big 12 that was really loud and they were measuring it on the sidelines with a decibel meter. Thinking also the OU 2000 game was really loud, and yea, recall that Nebraska game in 2010 was loud. Seem to recall Clemson (2018?) being ear-splitting -- a Clemson fan sitting next to me gave me a Clemson $2 bill at the end and commented how crazy the atmosphere was and the sound.
