I doubt prospective HCs and their agents would look at it this way.

We aren't going to get a guy other top programs want without a top tier average salary. Why would a coach gamble on himself like that when he doesn't have to? And I'm sure any competing program would be willing to offer whatever size NC bonus on top of the higher base salary.

The toothpaste is out of the tube as far as coaching salaries go.

Bad take. Jimbo wouldn't be competitive at all at Okie St. Gundy is a better coach.

Gundy wouldn't work out here because he simply doesn't GAF about recruiting. tu, OU, and lsu would eat our lunch on the trail.

No coach will agree to an incentive based contract. We can offer it, but we'll get laughed out of the room.

Or let me put it this way - if we find a coach that will agree to an incentive laden contract, he's probably a terrible coach who's just begging to be hired somewhere.

THIS!! I was literally gonna post the same thing; I'd keep Elijah Robinson on staff, keep him as "Asst Head Coach" & make him the official guru but remove him from Defensive Line coaching duties!! We also need a S&C coach that actually gets results, & maybe even Mike Sherman to coach our O'line.
