Dude..... did you even read the article? He was going 85mph down Wellborn. That's absolutely reckless and not an ordinary speeding ticket. Several cars had to slam the brakes to avoid getting hit. Yeah, if you're that reckless, you should 100% be arrested.
Pulled over and ticketed, absolutely. Arrested with a $3,000 bond. I don't think so.

Take off your maroon colored glasses. If some random jackass college student was driving near your family like that you'd 100% be ok with them being arrested.

Do the cops in BCS just straight up hate the university, students, and especially athletes? Wasn't there a football player complaining about the cops harassing players earlier in the summer?

No chance he was actually breaking the law?

No chance people get warnings for breaking minor traffic violations?

Hardly a "minor traffic violation" since the Traffic Code calls for up to a 30 day jail term, unlike a Class C misdemeanor traffic violation. Don't be an idiot.

If he was putting you or your family's safety at risk, you'd want him arrested. Don't be an apologist for him just because he's a football player. That's how programs go to hell.

If no one was hurt, why arrest him? Fine the hell out of him.

It's not like countless recently freed criminals waste no time finding their way back to the courts.

Yeah, we'll have to agree to disagree here.

If you're going more than double the speed limit, running red lights, and people are having to slam their brakes to avoid you… go directly to jail. That's beyond just making a dumb choice.

I'm not saying he should serve a long sentence or be kicked off the team. But I am saying the arrest was justified IMO. That deserves more than a slap on the wrist and hopefully he learns from it. He's talented and I'm sure he's a good kid.

I have no issue with him being arrested. He should get a few days community service. Let him wear a orange jumper while picking up trash along the highway.

Jokes on you pal were already there.

He was driving fast. We all drive fast and if you say you don't you're a liar. The cop is the bad guy in this situation like usual. How many times do we see them blow through red lights and speed but they're somehow untouchable. ACAB

Going 50 MPH over the posted limit would get any of us arrested.

Who is the person hired by the team to mentor the players and constantly remind them to be very careful to not get in trouble by doing stupid things. You would think that a talented player like Turner would be constantly thinking for 3 short years about his big NFL payday while behaving like an Eagle Scout. You would also think that Turner knows about what happened to gifted Raiders WR from Alabama Henry Ruggs lll for speeding and killing a young woman, 3-10 years in prison !

From the article:
Quote:

The car was identified because it is a light gray Dodge Challenger with a unique black hood that Turner had installed.

So maybe you guys ripping the police should shut up.

So you'd rather let him injure, or even kill someone first?
85 mph down Wellborn. Think about that for a sec.
The slightest mistake by either him or an adjacent vehicle could get REALLY bad, maybe even fatal.

Sometimes the jackasses need a steeper punishment just to get their attention.

Well, when you buy players who have no organic interest in the University, its culture, or traditions, and if you have a coaching staff that also dont fit, you run these risks.

The incident occurred on Saturday, August 12th just before 10:00 a.m. in the area of F and B Road and Agronomy Road, according to police reports.
Texas A&M police say an officer observed Turner nearly cause a wreck, run a red light, and drive 85 miles per hour in 35 to 45 mph zones from F and B Road to PA 62 along Wellborn Road.
"The officer tried to catch up to him to stop him but because of the time of day and traffic, the officer did not want to risk public safety. Officers were able to locate the vehicle in Parking Area 62.
"After the investigation, we presented the evidence to the county attorney's office and a warrant was issued. He turned himself in on Monday," said Assitant Chief Richardson.
Turner reportedly told officers that he was late for a meeting and didn't realize how fast he was driving.

Bad decision? Sure. Get in trouble since he got caught sure. Kicked off the team… no. I'd venture to say many of plus drive fast a time of two.

He was obviously being a dumbass, but he also hauled ass to the Kyle field parking lot on a Saturday morning. Sounds like he was more afraid of being late for practice than he was of the cops. Draw your own conclusions.

Legally speaking, speeding while weaving through traffic is bad enough. So basic Georgia stuff. Or racing.

As fast as he was going, and dodging traffic, I doubt he even noticed the cop trying to catch up and stop him.

If they could have made a credible case that he was refusing to pull over, the charge would have been Evading Arrest or Detention (in a vehicle) which is a state jail felony.

The fact that they got a warrant for it also means that the County Attorney's office was involved, and that a judge agreed that they had enough to arrest on the Reckless Driving Charge.

In all likelihood, the charge will be plea bargained, and he'll get a fine, probation, and community service. I don't know about Reckless Driving (Class B misdemeanor), but the normal plea deal on the class B DWI is about 12 months probation, a fine, and 40 hours community service.
