I see a lot of fire Durkin comments and I'm wondering if he were fired today, wor on our staff would step up to be Defensive Coordinator?

Who wouldn't do better should be the question.

Unpopular Opinion: The Defense played better in the 2nd half. ST and offensive turnovers were the main problems in the 3rd and 4th quarters.

Even on that game sealing TD the Miami WR got away with pushing off/hands to the face.

Give me a few hours to read the Wikipedia article on defensive strategy in American football and I'll have him beat

100% this. Durkin a bend don't break requires top tier tackling, and we don't have it. He has our stud athlete playing in their heels. Find someone who has them playing aggressive and front footed

If somebody had told me that we would go to Miami, score 33 points and hold their offense below 100 yards rushing, I would never have believed we'd have lost the game by 15 points. Granted, Miami's kickoff return should have been nullified when they tackled Sam Matthews from behind, but I don't know that the final outcome would have been different.

Questions: Is Miami's offensive line really that good at pass protection, or is our pass rush pathetic? We may not know until Miami plays Florida State in November, or when we play Alabama and try to replicate what Texas did to their offensive line yesterday.

Part of being a good defensive lineman is not allowing yourself to be blocked, fighting through a block or shedding a block. Our defensive lineman run right into the block and then have basically no technique to escape. I was watching this specifically yesterday and it was almost laughable how unimaginative our guys are at getting around or shedding blocks. It looks almost like they are running a drill for the offensive linemen to practice on. I don't know if this is indirectly related to TP's passing and Robinson is spread to thin but their performance was really bad yesterday.
