Now I'm not an 18 year old D1 athlete, so I am obviously way off in my logic here....but seems that not making a highlight reel because I made a tackle the right way is far superior than making a highlight reel because I tried to get all brody and punish the receiver and he bounces right off and jogs into the endzone while I'm laying on the ground watching.

It always amazes me when we rush 3 when it's 3rd and long. Drop 8 into coverage and they still hit a wide open receiver for the 1st down.

Having sat through (in person) 37 games in row of Durkin's D at Maryland it's not going to get better. He doesn't run a weird scheme or do anything odd it just doesn't work. And it's not going to get better unfortunately.

Key things in a Durkin run defense - no consistent pass rush or edge containment and DB's don't know to look back for the ball (thus lots of PI calls). The other is poor tackling and wrapping up.

Before someone says Maryland had a lack of talent.... there are 4 or 5 players on that D in the league including a 1st round pick.

We need a new DC.

Me and you both. Remember as a kid playing in the backyard. If I had 10 Mississippi I don't care if it was 3 on 8, someone was gonna get open and close to a first down every time.

I'm more of a live by the blitz, die by the blitz kind of coach. I'm not letting anyone just pick me apart by sitting back and watching corners that can't tackle or can't cover anyone. That's insane to that.

Now if you have killers back there in the secondary fine, sit back and don't blitz then come up and punish and strip....we don't have that and we're just sitting back say, "here, dissect us."
