I was at the game, open seats everywhere, guessing maybe 2/3s full.

But the partial roof all around made it crazy loud inside. If that stadium was full it would have been insane.

Is a roof allowed in all conferences, why would we not look at this when we did the $400mil Reno….???

Could be because the fans were into the game and there wasn't stupid music playing up to the snap of the ball like at Kyle.

Possible they were pumping noise through the PA system

My limited knowledge of acoustics tells me the partial roof is not having a dramatic impact on noise levels

It came across as loud on TV. Sounded like the old days at Kyle.

They were not. It was deafening. Miami fans are t shirt wearing no association idiots but my lord they know when to stand up and cheer

Ags always find a way to energize an opposing teams fan base. It's exhausting to watch year after year.

The Miami T-shirt vans that showed up at Kyle last year were a hoot and definitely louder than the average undergrad Miami fan

hell yeah, let's start another capital campaign to "raise the roof" on aggie football. Prob can get it done for 100-150 million, then Aggie Football will most certainly reign supreme! Get your name on a shingle today!

Is there a roofed stadium anywhere that seats >100,000?

I've been saying this about Kyle Field for a long time. A large overhang traps noise and creates an echo that fans can hear which makes them feel more comfortable to yell even louder. Go look up soccer fans singing and chanting and you can hear the difference. The fact that this also provides shade makes this renovation a no-brainer.

- Difficult to justify the cost of a dome and the utility bills for 7 events / year.
- Difficult to attract major events when there are already domed facilities 90 miles to the southeast, 180 miles to the north, and 180 miles to the west, all with significantly larger populations to sell tickets to.
- Can't really dome an existing stadium without doubling or tripling the cost. Would've had to remove the entire student side and north zone to build a dome.

However, suspending a partial roof over a stadium is significantly more feasible like Miami's roof. Our angled roofs are significantly cheaper than the suspended roof. We could add a suspended roof with foundations sitting outside of the existing ramp towers. The spans would be massive, but it's possible. Miami spent $350 million on their roof. Ours would be over half a billion, or more than the entire renovation. I'd rather be hot for a game or two than have my season ticket prices more than double.

This.

If we had built from scratch rather than renovating, I think we might have ended up with more roof than we did, but I'm thankful that we have what we do, when compared to other schools. The roofs on the East and West sides do make a difference.

AT&T Stadium is expandable to 105,000. I think we've played there a time or 2.
Wake me up when next year is finally THIS year.

I was at the game and it was fairly loud for a stadium that had tons of empty seats.

Miami fans by and large are of low football IQ, but some were pretty good. The guy and family we sat next to was an actual graduate and season ticket holder since the late 90's, but as he said we Miami fans are our own worst enemy. Only showing up when the team is winning, little to no support otherwise.

We sat in season ticket holder section a row below the suites and most were pretty good. Lower level end zone was some trash.

The eye candy was typical for Miami...

Isn't it crazy that a basically nfl type CFB team doesn't have music like a nightclub but a traditional college program has to have jock jams every play?

The department hates Aggie tradition.

the fans were mic for the game. the broadcast ers do it all the time to add "energy".

While Payton was with the Colts, their stadium was always crazy loud. Then one game, the CD skipped.

They were not. I was there. I sat in said lower end zone surrounded by trashy t-shirts. One group of Aggie women was provoked and nearly left in tears. Fans are absolute trash, but EVERYONE stood up and cheered regardless of down or time of game
