What is Jimbo Fisher's buyout if fired?

Here's a year-by-year breakdown of Jimbo Fisher's buyout at Texas A&M if the Aggies were to fire him in the season:

2023: $76.8 million
2024: $67.55 million
2025: $58.2 million
2026: $48.75 million
2027: $39.2 million
2028: $29.55 million
2029: $19.8 million
2030: $9.95 million

Don't know if it's been brought up in any of the Fire Jimbo/Hire Elko threads. That's a hell of a lot of money to come up with.

Which begs the question . . . How much does the next guy make? Nobody is going to accept less than Jimbo's current contract terms. Unless you're hiring willie fritz.

The next contracts should only be performance based. With $10-20 million for a National Championship win. We must never give this power to one person again.

Mr. Fisher is not going anywhere in this economy that's alot of money even to the big boys. They have no idea what to do next

The thing I still give Jimbo is that his teams typically don't quit. The Ags have had some disappointing losses under him, sure, but they rarely get blown out the water.

I'm aware I'm creating a low bar here in my judgement, but it's a fact. He's usually in every game. He's close, but there just seems to be something always missing.

Regardless, we might as well ride with the guy because ain't nobody coughing up the cheddar required to get rid of him any time soon.

That might be a lot of money for you and I to come up with, but at $87 p/barrel oil and rising, it isn't undoable for the guys who funded his contract.

Well the idiots that hired and extended him are the ones who will have to come up with the money.

I want to believe this is the case. It's pathetic, but I'm sure there are plenty of rich Aggies that get highly motivated when the horns are kicking ass and we are tanking.

I also believe this is how it will happen: either at the end of this season if we go .500 or worse or next season after Texas defeats us at home. Nothing forces action like the inferiority complex.

Some of you Ags are slow on the uptake. After decades of disappointment, haven't you realized that it doesn't really matter who the coach is? We spent half a billion on stadium upgrades. We've "spent" tons of money on UIL and bringing in highly rated classes. We've spent far too much money on coaches and assistant coaches and facilities. It doesn't matter. We have no more to show for it than we did 20 years ago. What we do have is exponentially greater disappointment because of the aforementioned expenditures.

I'm convinced that A&M will win a championship only after we've completely given up all hope of anything greater than just a respectable showing in each of our games; we hire reasonable fellows at decent salaries that move on to bigger opportunities once they've proven themselves. What we've tried doesn't work.

We have a systemic problem at this school that everyone knows exists but we cannot fix. Get over the losses and learn to manage expectations. We are not who we've never been.

If/when they fire him then he will have to be replaced. The same people who hired & then fired Jimbo will be the same group that will fund the next bazillion dollar coaching hire. They will insist on control over the hire and they will make the same mistakes in hiring his successor. Repeat cycle. We will then enter the next decade of mediocrity that has been customary since RC was fired.

I can't fathom what it must feel like to have that type of money guaranteed! Only the most self-motivated person would have the fire to achieve at the highest level. What chaps me about the contract is we were negotiating against ourselves. Jimbo flirts with LSU and we bend the freaking knee after we already gave him everything he wanted. You want LSU? There is the freaking door!

That's the problem. We get so nervous about losing coaches we make stupid decisions. Did the same with Sumlin when he flirted with USC.

Also the buyout while large in whole, is only about 22 percent(ballpark) owed within the first 60 days of firing. Meaning only around 20 million. That is doable. The remaining amount is paid out year after year.

No championship level coach will accept that. They have agents and they know how money we are willing to spend.
