This video has some A&M shots but is mostly about how much commercials are hurting the college football game experience and why.
Perhaps commercials could be limited, like the NFL does.
About 4 commercials per quarter would be good with me.

In total agreement. How can we make this happen?

The new rule about the running clock is NOT helping this situation. Every time there's a score, it seems like they're piling on more commercials to compensate.

All that money we get for playing in the SEC and being on ESPN…the commercials pay for that. It sucks, but it is only going to get worse as contracts keep going up.

I 100% agree that the commercials are the main reason why these games last so long. Isn't it funny how the game in total, including a 20:00 half, should only last 80 minutes, yet the average game lasts 202 minutes?

Yep. I'm convinced that any attempts to tinker with the pace of play or overall gametime rules will just result in the networks shoving more commercials in.

I was thinking last night about how I probably will be watching almost no sporting events in 10-15 years, in part because of the commercials.

Unless I'm watching in a group, I record any game I want to watch now and start it at least 45 minutes late.

Would rather they saved all commercials for quarter and half breaks. Don't care if it extends those breaks some but please let the game be played at its natural pace.

Get a commercial or two in on time outs, especially when they review a play, and during injuries. Three or four minutes of commercials after the 1st and 3rd quarter, the entire halftime can be commercials, nobody needs to listen to some dorks doing analysis.

This. No commercials=no money. It's a necessary evil.

Commercials are, yes. The extent, absolutely not. No other sport has the commercial time ncaa football does. It's become unwatchable if I don't have an interest in the team, so if A&M isn't playing.

Do the game break ins and show a commercial during an on field timeout vs having an injury and him walking off the field 30 seconds into a 3 minute commercial break. Monetize the on the field advertisements. Plenty of other options. But I've gotten to where I just don't care to sit down and watch a 4+ hour football game anymore.

They missed a damn interception in the Florida State/LSU game as the commercial was still playing before they came back to the game. All we saw were the highlights of the huge play that already happened. Embarrassingly bad.

College football has sold out. NFL has less commercials, that's amazing.

Yeah reducing the amount of time spent playing only to increase the commercials is a bit of a beating. It's already so far beyond every other sport.

Want fewer commercials? Move to the PAC-12.

My friend, these things are coming and it's going to be on top of what's already there.

Every rule change in the last 20 years have accomplished one of 2 things: less football or softer football.

None have made the game better.

I'm positive the networks drove the current change.

Watching college football is a lot of fun, but I think it could be made even better by adding more Cheez-It and Dr. Pepper commercials.

Accelerate the game so we can run more commercials and then cancel on spectrum because they won't give us more money. Solid choice you Disney pedos

They "sped" the game up by not stopping the clock but now commercials take 4 mins. Kinda defeats the purpose.

The game still took 4 hours.

Double the cost and have half as many commercials. Also do away with bands playing halftime.

Half of that would fly in Aggieland.

Guess that's the good thing about Spectrum / Disney not having contract - I've seem none.

Recap working well for me, so have a lot more free time this Fall.

I don't understand why they just couldn't do the commercials on a split screen and continue to show the game while the commercial is running.

Never. Watch. Anything. Live.

Unless you like commercials.

Maybe the Superbowl.

Because then you wouldn't hear the side effects for a diabetes medication that doctors are using to make people lose weight instead.

Add me to the list of people who think the game times are NOT being shortened, and the commercial times are EXPANDED. Commercial breaks seemed to last forever. As we get further into the season I hope to see some data on the total length of the games and how much commercial time is injected into the game and compare that to previous years. Based on Week 1, the "shorten the game" angle seems to be a hoodwink to expand the commercial times! grumble, grumble, gr ...

I feel like someone out there has to have data on time of games broken out by gameplay vs commercials and other timeouts.

All you ever see is total game time and it's blamed on new pass heavy offenses. Bull****

10 years ago when they first started with the time out clock referees the normal commercial time posted would be "2:30." Now the normal is "3:30" and sometimes you will even see "4:00."

We all know this is unnecessary. Soccer makes plenty of money and they have two running halves.

That being said. This is what A&M and every other major program signed us up for when they started chasing $60 million a year tv contracts.

its ridiculous, between the commericals and the penalties the second half of the A&M- New Mexico game was not watchable.
