I have the same $#!+ with Direct TV and the local Fox station. They've been bickering about contracts for months. Hoped it wouldn't reach football season, but here we are.

Can't watch Neb/Min. Not the greatest loss, but I like having access to all games!!!

Direct TV, get you $#!+ together!

How many millions of dollars does espn make per year in these scenarios, tricking people into paying for espn+, who are assuming it meant they could actually watch espn? It's quite the brilliant business tragedy when you really think about it.

Great timing. My promo with Spectrum expired recently and my cable internet bill went to $200 per month.

Call and cancel. They'll bring it down.

If 2023 had just one theme, I think it would be ******ed Decisions by Corporations.

The latest entry: Spectrum

Cable TV is losing subscribers at a pretty constant rate. More and more people are cutting the cord. So you would think the mindset of those in charge of one of these cable TV corporations would be to keep that fact in mind in their day-to-day decision making.

Not Spectrum. Nope. Without any warning, and I mean any warning at all, 5 minutes prior to the start of the Utah-Florida game all Disney-owned channels became unavailable, with a note that Disney wanted too much money so Spectrum customers should contact Disney and convince them to change their minds.

How obtuse could they be? I mean, it truly boggles my mind the level of stupidity and ignorance on display by those in charge at Spectrum. There was no warning. Typically, when a cable/satellite provider is at odds with a network, they start the campaign weeks before the final deadline required for resolution. Nope, not Spectrum. Their customers lost ESPN 5 minutes before the start of the college football season, and all Spectrum had to say about it was, "go tell it to Disney."

No, Spectrum, I will not go tell it to Disney. Instead, I will use that time in a more productive way by dropping you and subscribing to YouTube TV instead.

I am amazed at the mensa ******s running corporations these days. That decision by Spectrum has to be top 10 dumbest corporate moves considering the current environment.

There are a million options for cable streaming. Stop being a whiny little snowflake and pick a different provider.
the U.S. Congress allows local municipalities to regulate cable. So they hand out concessions that increase city revenue and many cities have at best a patchwork map of single providers. Past that you need internet access for streaming providers and usually the primary cable company is also the primary high bandwidth internet provider.

There are of course exceptions, but since the cable companies want to book a profit they also don't compete with each other head to head unless they have a huge advantage without additional capital spend. So they notion you can always pick another cable provider is misleading at best.

The pissing match showed up with Sinclair and local providers on stations Sinclair owned or managed in roughly 2008 in Iowa for us. They both are using content to gauge customer support for pricing. But as I said recently: prices are going up not down in all goods and services. You can thank Trump and Biden. They both did it though the Democrats did it more. I've been calling him Joe "Earl" Carter-Biden for a while now…

But I'm sure there are seats at Kyle that will pop free on game day or watch it in the MSC for more game day atmosphere!!! Which means parking issues and crowds…

You still have cable? Better get on your landline and tell them to expect a strongly worded letter in the mail.

Disclaimer: I just gave up my landline earlier this year.

I've NEVER understood that line of thinking. Dear customer, we're having a disagreement with our vendor that we're going to use to not provide the service we promised you.

Will you please call and complain to our vendor? Don't bother us. We're uhhhh... we're busy?

ESPN+ is $10/mo. Don't like it, but this will get me through football season or until Spectrum gets its act together.
No it won't.

When NBC and AT&T got into the same dumb scuffle a few years back I threatened to cancel u-verse and they knocked 50% off my bill until they negotiated the contract. It lasted four months and they never increased my rate.

Wow! 50% is impressive! If my UVerse bill was 50% lower I might still be using them!
