Bigger dog to LSU than UT, and UT to Bama.

Computers disrespecting the hell out of Alabama. Doubt it holds.

I'd be ok with this but would gladly trade any of the potential P5 'wins' with the Ole Miss 'loss' to finally beat both Mississippi schools.

All games except LSU are within a touchdown. Might as well just go 12-0…

I'm not sure how in year 6 anything less than 10 wins is acceptable. He was hired to win championships.

It absolutely shouldn't be acceptable. However, the question is what buyout can the BMDs afford. Jimbo's buyout is $77M after this season and that doesn't include hiring a new staff.

I was just talking about the football end of it. 8-4 and this program is dead.

Depending on how it went down, 8-4 is a clear improvement over 5-7. As long as they never extend him again, it's worth staying the course and tweaking along the way.

No more splitting with the Mississippi schools. Sweep them or GTFO.

In a perfect world yeah. But recent history (5 games) has proven that Ole Miss and Miss State, on gameday, are just as good as Texas A&M. Considering the talent disparity, that tells me that A&M approaches these games as either just another game or a game they should always win, while the Miss schools treat it as a bowl game and prepare accordingly.

The Ags need to make sweeping Mississippi a priority, But that's hard to do when you also want to keep up with Bama and LSU. Ole Miss and MSU want to beat A&M way worse than anybody else.

He's in year 6. Improvement isn't enough. We need to be in the hunt on November. 10 wins or we're just watching the clock until he's gone.

We also have Bama at home and Tennessee on the road. Otherwise it is 9.6 and 3.9, respectively.

11-1 guys. This team is special. We've got depth everywhere and I fully expect the offensive live and linebackers will carry their load. As long as we avoid significant injuries, we are going to see a special offense and special product on the field.

The LSU win was no fluke. We beat them soundly. We were the better team. Yet, the media seems to barely acknowledge it. We are returning more starters than anyone in the SEC. We have climbed out of the offensive quagmire - and no, you don't have to be timid and stick to the "I'll wait in see" mindset. Petrino's resume is plain to see. He will be better than every before. He's never had access to this level of talent.

We will be a better team in all three phases. This team does not have the youth, nor the distractions from last year. Stay healthy and this is at least a 10 win team. Drink up.

We get Bama at Kyle and the following Saturday go on the road to Tenn who will be coming off their bye week. I can see why we're bigger dogs to Tenn

I'd swap LSU and Arkansas. I'm hoping we can take 1 between LSU and Tennessee. There's no reason why we shouldn't sweep Arkansas and South Carolina

The transfer portal has helped even out the talent disparity for a lot of those middle of the pack SEC schools. Now you have Ole Miss and others taking in 20+ grown men, many of whom were all-conference G5 players.

Sure not all of them will work out, but high school recruiting rankings can't be the only thing going into evaluating a team's talent anymore.

Bama is on the road the week before coming to Kyle. Only 3 SEC teams have won back to back road games the last 5 years.

Ole Miss: 1.6

Now that we are entering conference play, it seemed like a good time to update this thread with current SP+ projections:

New Mexico: Win
Miami: Loss
UL Monroe: Win
Auburn: -7.4
Arkansas: -7.9
Alabama: 2.1
Tennessee: 1.9
South Carolina: -14.1
Ole Miss: 4.0
Clanga: -13.3
Abilene Christian: N/A
LSU: 3.6

There are a lot of strange results here, with Ole Miss now being the toughest game left of the schedule numerically, and general improvement across the board, despite what we saw against Miami. My gut says these numbers should be a lot worse, but it is hard to point to any individual team and say the numbers should be way off, either.

Once again, last year does not matter. We already votives that by losing to Miami by 15.
