Joe Thomas who showed up every week, every season of his career and made the HOF should shut up about a guy that didn't care enough about his job to succeed? Ok.

Now that it's been so long and he's in the HOF, this seems beneath his legacy.

I don't watch these shows. Did he just start in on it or did Dan Patrick ask him about it? I'm sure there are plenty of former Browns teammates that don't have a high opinion of a guy that didn't give his all.

He had him on the show because he was just indicted in hall of fame. It surprised ag all he didn't know about it. Why would he? Many here didn't.
Lawyerly autocorrect.

Don't understand all the hate for Thomas here. He's not saying anything that isn't true, other than he seems to underrate Johnny's athleticism. Just because Johnny was incredible in college doesn't mean he wasn't a horrible teammate in the pros - he objectively was. A poster above says Thomas was a ****ty teammate, but he's the one who showed up every day and did what he was supposed to do. Thomas seems to be just conveying his perspective of how things went back then (because he was asked); there aren't personal attacks.

One can show up every day and do what he was supposed to (on the field only, talking sh*t about teammates is not what one is supposed to do), and still be a ****ty teammate. Joe Thomas epitomized that 10 years ago, and epitomizes that today.

As for him being in the HOF, has as much relevance to this conversation as HOFer OJ being a murderer or HOFer Shannon Sharpe being a loudmouth or HOFer Joe Namath even being in the HOF.

Wasn't there link to a Joe Thomas podcast posted here after he retired, where he actually interviewed Johnny? I seem to remember him describing Johnny as the "best all around athlete on the team" because of his basketball and golf skills, and then having this buddy buddy conversation where he seemed more amused by Johnny than anything else. Joe Thomas was a great player, but he is so desperate for people to like him that he will say whatever he thinks the other person in the room wants to hear.

Do you think there's any chance he's a reptile alien? The reptilians are pretty cold blooded.

Thomas talking trash about Myles Garrett. Oh wait seems he really likes teammates that show up, put in the work and are dedicated.

Myles trash talking Thomas.

My problem is not necessarily with what Joe Thomas said, but with the fact that it seemed to contradict what he said in a previous podcast when Johnny was on the podcast with him. I suspect that what he said this time is what he really believes, but the previous interview had none of the sense outrage, instead coming from a place of frat boy bemusement as the two of them laughed over stories of the days of "Johnny being Johnny". Thomas was a great player, but he changes his tune a little too effortlessly for anyone to take what he says seriously.

Watching episode 4 of Netflix's Quarterback (which follows Mahomes, Cousins, and Mariotta through the 2022) season, I was stunned to see how much "studying" they had to do of the playbooks for each game. I had heard that Johnny had difficulty with learning the playbook at Cleveland back when. Given the "0" film time and the off field distractions, I think any of his teammates would have been unhappy with his seeming lack of focus and effort.

He rushed for more yards in a single game against a Steelers team than any QB in NFL history. That does not happen without being quick and athletic.

Just sayin'

Where do you see this? Not saying it isn't true, I've just never heard anything like this.
Plus! Over 400 yards passing against Kansas City!

He's in the Hall of Fame and Johnny flameout football is trying to open a bar. Who's jealous of who?

Joe Thomas is one of the greatest tackles to ever play the game, and by all accounts one of the most respected guys in all NFL circles. He is/was not the problem.

Nobody said he was the problem. He was not a good teammate to JFF tho.

No it's not. But, he didn't help running his mouth constantly. IDGAS if he was asked about Johnny. Perhaps he was just too stupid to answer with nothing BS like a good teammate would.
