The doc is out and now the former teammates are chiming in. Where were they when the doc was shot? Everybody is out with their knives - Why didn't any of them mentor him?

NATTY OR BUST. BUST IT IS.

I think Johnny would agree with 95% of that. Minus the "athletic ability" part

My take from the doc was that he has no shame, and doesn't care what anyone says. He doesn't need someone on TexAgs to come to his defense.

This. I came away with if he had the chance to do it all over again he wouldn't change one thing.

Did you even watch the doc?
Spoiler- maybe if he had had a few more people to hold him accountable (and a few less people goaltending for him, ala OP), it might have turned out differently.

I think it was more that he was suggesting if he had it to do over again it would turn out the same because he was incapable of making the responsible choices. I didn't get that he was proud of it...just that that's what it was.

Last few seasons have been Aggies in NFL posts over and over. This season is a former player and ONE Netflix episode. Some of you should follow #dudewithasign on IG.

Joe Thomas has always been mouthy about JFF.

STFU Joe.

Unfortunately, if you know anyone with bipolar disorder, you know it's not that simple.

Agreed. Impossible for anyone to reign him in.

Joe Thomas who showed up every week, every season of his career and made the HOF should shut up about a guy that didn't care enough about his job to succeed? Ok.

yes. He always *****es about jf being a bad teammate. But he surely was too, at the least. He seams to get off complaining about johnny to the media. Just like it's bull**** shctick about not knowing that jm documentary was coming out
Of course he did. He can f off

He's one of the greatest offensive tackles of all time. He played more than 10,000 consecutive snaps which is unbelievable. First ballot HOF. I doubt he even thinks about a guy who briefly was a teammate and was an all time great at Fing up. Does him telling the truth when a lazy media hack asks him about it bother you?

Honestly, who is Joe Thomas? Was he the Browns coach? Without googling I don't know him.

Thomas is a stud and has every right to rip JFF, but to say he isn't quick and athletic is laughable. His first 10-15 steps were ridiculous.

He rushed for more yards in a single game against a Steelers team than any QB in NFL history. That does not happen without being quick and athletic.

Just sayin'

Don't be so dense. I haven't watched the NFL in several years, and don't follow the details of it at all, but I know exactly who Joe Thomas is. I'm not a Browns fan, or particular fan of his, but he was a great player.

Well he said manziel was slow and he was. Kyler was fast but in a straight line. Manziel was slow but elusive. Like Jordan and Bird in BB, Kyler could make DBs look slow, Manziel would make them look stupid.

Everything he said was fair and accurate. And it's why I always laugh at the lonely old jocksniffers who love to whine and cry about Johnny "throwing it all away." Johnny was a GREAT college player who did exceptional things in college. And like a lot of great college players, he had a mediocre pro career. None of the deluded football experts on this board ever mention the NFL career of the other QB sitting next to Johnny at the Heisman ceremony.

He was a good player. But he's been complaining to the media about Johnny since day 1. He acts holier than though-- but that behavior didn't help either.

And again spare me with his bs about not knowing the documentary was coming out... Didn't know... yet few days after it comes out Dan Patrick has him on the show... whatever...

He had him on the show because he was just indicted in hall of fame. It surprised ag all he didn't know about it. Why would he? Many here didn't.

only reason I know him is because he's ran his mouth for 10 years about JFF. Seemed like a ****ty teammate back then who hated JFF, and a ****ty former teammate today.

Sorry to disappoint. I honestly do not know who the guy is. I watched the super bowl and some playoff games the past few years and thats it. Last I checked this is an aggie fb board? Ok, I googled it - now my "DENSE" seems more like you just being too "THIN" - really? An O line from wisconsin, and the browns? Sorry, neither has made my watchlist.

What did Farve say - the only guy that is watching the nose tackle is his mom????

In this interview from 2 years ago Joe Thomas says he has always liked Johnny a lot, and that he had the talent to still be in the NFL 7 years later. He also says he thinks Baker Mayfield is great earlier in the interview, so may be his QB evaluation skills just shouldn't be valued. Starts talking about Johnny around 11:15 in.

I'm glad Joe Thomas finally got the attention he always deserved by trashing Johnny. It's sad he couldn't get that attention more constructively. And shame on Dan Patrick, too.

But WE need to stop being enablers for a user. Celebrate his college success isn't enabling. Goalkeeping is.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
Joe Thomas was the 3rd player picked in 2007. He's the only NFL player ever to play 10,000 consecutive snaps. He's one of the greatest OL of all time. His team suffered because they drafted a F. Up at QB that didn't take his job seriously. Any criticism Johnny gets is deserved and earned. It's probably really annoying to have a hack like Patrick ask you this when you've just been inducted in the HOF. I wouldn't have known about the documentary if I didn't see it on Texags. Loved watching Johnny and was able to see him live 16 times. That was 10 years ago. Why are some so tender about this?

Don't understand all the hate for Thomas here. He's not saying anything that isn't true, other than he seems to underrate Johnny's athleticism. Just because Johnny was incredible in college doesn't mean he wasn't a horrible teammate in the pros - he objectively was. A poster above says Thomas was a ****ty teammate, but he's the one who showed up every day and did what he was supposed to do. Thomas seems to be just conveying his perspective of how things went back then (because he was asked); there aren't personal attacks.

I think Thomas was trying to express that Manziel wasn't athletic enough to play the kind of football he wanted at the professional level.

It's a short list of quarterbacks who got away with backyard football in the NFL:

1. Mike Vick

End of list.

Johnny Manziel was elusive in college. That's what made him so fun to watch. It doesn't work the same way in the NFL, unless you're Barry Sanders.

When you flame out of the NFL like JFF did, you're going to get crapped on. And most of it is deserved.
