This is false. We were seriously considering the PAC from what I understand. The horn network not releasing their media rights is what killed the deal. Also it's what convinced us that staying in the B12 was a nonstarter since the horns would have more money and what was perceived at the time as a massive recruiting advantage with their own private network.
You are assuming we would have been 13-0 and PAC champions. That may also have resulted in Alabama being 13-0 SEC champions. If so, there is NO WAY the BCS would have put us in ahead of Notre Dame and Alabama.rootube said:
I'm much happier I'm the SEC but you are ignoring the obvious fact that if we had all bolted to the PAC, the conference would still be alive and well. Another thing to consider is we may have won natty in '12, if we had played in the PAC.
From what I read in the 100 Year Decision, after the offer to jump with tu to form the Pac 16, Lofton made contact with Slive and the SEC offer was quickly on the table in 2010 after Loftin discussed how a Pac 16 offer was on the table. However, Loftin declined both offers from the then Pac 10 and the SEC to remain in the Big 12 when Big 12 Commissioner Dan Beebe promised at least $20 million. However, Slive told Loftin that when he would still be awaiting a phone call from Loftin if Loftin reconsidered taking us to the SEC (which obviously happened a year later).Sq 17 said:
Good summation ,
Does the 100 year decision discuss the timing of the SEC offer. Iirc the SEC offer came quickly but was not on the table when tu and the PAC came up with the PAC 16 expansion plan
The attack on masculinity that started decades ago may have reached a level that those on the West Coast simply aren't very interested in college football.74AnimalA said:
Feel kind of sorry for the last 4. By the way, 1 of the leftovers is currently ranked in the Top 20.
If those can't get into some conference they can't play games that provide any competition, power rating will plummet and consideration for the Polls/Playoff will drop.
What's left for them? The Mountain West?
So there are 18 in the New Big 10, 16 in the New Big 12 and 16 in the New SEC. Scheduling is going to be an issue. We dropped divisions and some Rival Games, because we didn't want to play 9 conference games.
If the Big10 & Big 12 expands conference games to get to some interplay champ level, that's 1 less opportunity for the last PAC12 schools to schedule someone.
Now the West Coast has 2 other real issues. (1) Their Time zone and (2) Apathy.
After a long day of watching SEC / ACC / Big12 / Big 10 games, that party is over.
And for a while, in the Pros too!, they haven't been able t0 fill the stadiums. Could be the change in the demographics on the Left Coast, could be the politics of who lives there...
