Agree horns down is stupid. Also agree it shouldn't be a penalty unless it rises to the level of taunting. Any taunting should be a penalty. If you score a TD on them and then do horns up in their face that should probably be a penalty as much as horns down.

As far as fans go, they paid their money to be there . Do what you want but it isn't a positive message imo. Pump up your team/school but don't disrespect theirs. Jmo.

Having said all that, throwing cotton balls on their team as they exited the stadium after the Ags clinched the SWC championship and Cotton Bowl Berth in '85…that was awesome

I love it anytime someone does it. We always have had to put up with "poooor aggies" since i can remember. The more the sips say that it bothers them, the more everyone should do it. It's crazy how it incites them. I say F em.

If we have learned nothing the fine folks over in Starkville, the SEC will penalize, or at least threaten, you with in-game yardage and monetary fines. The fans laughed and kept on clanging that gah damn cow bell, regardless of the real or perceived punishment. The SEC kowtowed to the mob, and voila, the most annoying environment in all of sports.

We are so interested in this stupid hand jive and yet a ton of us don't want to play Texas.

Taking perpetual offense at a rival is a sad reason to consider them a rival.

Horn up or horns down, it's free exposure for 'sip either way. It just shows that the 'burnt orange horde' is on the that persons mind whether their fingers are up or down.

I agree, totally idiotic to do horns down when you aren't even playing them. Screams obsessed. However, I do recall seeing thumbs down and no penalty. Clemson QB did it and so did Florida QB. If you aren't going to penalize for that, then don't for horns down either.

This was a penalty in 2017 FWIW. I don't know how it impacted the game but it was awesome and I support this kind of behavior.

I agree with this, outside of the being fined sarcasm. When someone chooses to put a horns down versus a thumbs up (supporting A&M)....never understood that. Support your team and not give more visibility to the other, even in jest.

Students who do that in all the gameday crowd shots...when they were probably 4 the last time we played them...gets the big eye roll. It just looks stupid, in my humble (and obviously correct) opinion.

Horns down is pretty juvenile but I guess we get that way about our college football.
I personally like it. Feels respectful to me.

Pro tip: an easy way to reveal secret sips is to start a "horns down" thread and note who demeans "horns down"

I hate the sips as much as the next Ag, but this is my take as well.

I may be in the minority here, but I just think is sports is so much better with a little (or a lot) or good old fashion sports hatred and some taunting (stupid or not) mixed in. I don't tune in on Saturdays to watch chivalry. But that's just me.
