Determining the top 4-5 teams and the bottom 4-5 is pretty easy but imo not a great deal of difference between 6-11

As stated early the Vols are bottom half and there is a world of difference between The Vols and the Commodores

I understand, and I'm not sure that I think the top half/bottom half deal was the way to go, but that's the criteria that they set, and if you try to change Bama's permanent opponents by swapping LSU for someone else (and it's LSU that causes the problem in Saban's mind, not UT), then that sets off a chain reaction.

Frankly, I think they should have mostly ignored past performance and focused on preserving rivalries (or reviving some). After all, the tougher your 3 permanent opponents, the easier your 12 rotating opponents figure to be. Also, past performance is no guarantee of future results, so while the formula may work, as of now, in the eyes of the SEC office, how often are they going to adjust this? But, that's the path they have started down, and unless they are simply going to do a complete makeover, it seems likely that we will continue to see the permanent opponents for a 3/6 set up be pretty much what was leaked months ago.

It's always funny when people try to act like tu is not our main rival. The amount of people that hate tu so much that they never want to play them is evidence enough. I thought it was funny when people wanted to debate who our rival is like it's a choice. Rivalries are born not chosen. I always wanted to play texas, just never wanted to be in the same conference again.

Not wanting to play another school isn't evidence of a rivalry so much as it is evidence of a dislike. I'd rather play lsu as our rivalry because the media isn't as one sided and biased when it goes to create story lines and headlines. It doesn't give a competitor a chance to use their media to harm our school each year.

Now that we are playing them again, we need to play them on Thanksgiving. And then play LSU in September. Just like old times.
We need to play sip in July when it's 160 degrees on the field. Melt those m'f'ers.

Because some Aggies aren't stuck in the past and want to keep LSU as the final game of the season. They don't care that "that's how it always was" when it comes to the Texas game. Play Texas in October or something.

Class of 96 and dgaf about playing sips again. Care as much about them as Baylor, tceh, and rest of big 22 or swc.

Read the thread if you want to know why it's a question. OP posed this question:

Quote:

Next year and future years, which one will be our last game of the year.
You may want the sips, but that's not really the question. Who will we get is the question.

Because of scheduling logistics, it's unlikely that we will play the sips for our final game. It could happen next year, but it would probably be a one time thing. We might not even play the sips in 2025 if we stick with an 8 game schedule.

I consider LSU our main SEC Rival. It should be played Thanksgiving.

After seeing sip destroy two conferences, last thing we need to do is throw them a bone and play them during SEC rivalry week.

This. Them coming in, keeping their 2nd weekend in October game with OU, AND getting A&M on Thanksgiving weekend is them getting to have their cake and eat it too. Plus, A&M went to the SEC to forge a new path. They've got a nice thing with LSU going at the end of the season. Why move that just because Texas is coming in and "that's how it always was"?

Who did LSU play at the end of the season prior to pig joining the SEC?

In 1982 Lsu ended with Tulane and played FSU the Saturday before Thanksgiving

I figured I could do my own research as opposed to asking texags

This. I miss the rivalry on Thanksgiving with my split family. Grew up in San Antonio and half my friends went to A&M and half went to Texas. None were dumb enough to pick Tech or Baylor.

My family is mixed as well and Thanksgivings were always a blast.

But does LSU consider A&M their main SEC rival or even 2nd or 3rd? At least Texas considers A&M as it's second rival behind OU.

Tulane was their historic end of season game, even for a while after Tulane left the SEC.

I understand. Not saying it has to be true to you. But its true to me which is why I said "I consider" LSU to be our main rival followed by a 2nd personal reason not to play sip on rivalry week.

Doesn't matter to me what LSU or sip thinks in the matter. Although I would argue that your average sip believes we are their main rival but can't admit it because it would go against their fantasy of sip superiority over all things Aggie.

Tech fans had your same mentality thinking A&M/Tech was a rivalry in the 2000s. That alone doesn't make it a rivalry. It has to go both ways.

LSU fans laugh at A&M fans thinking it's a rivalry just like Aggies laugh at Tech fans thinking A&M/Tech is a rivalry.

Disagree completely. I would be completely satisfied never playing them unless paired up in sports tournaments at the end of seasons.

I was an 80's and 90's student when we had some of our best years and streaks against that school and I still enjoyed being away from them these last many years. I loved being independent of them and us building our brand separate from them.

Always hated their arrogance and complete sense of entitlement. Their money (and with money, their power/influence) bought them their athletic history and I would rather they find a different home. They really don't fit the SEC mold.

It was good riddance all those years ago and disappointment now that they have paid their way in to the SEC. We were doing just fine on our own.

Ok, you're opinion. Good for you.

Once again, couldn't care less what the LSU fans think. But thought of LSU fans laughing at any other fan base is rich with irony.

You seem preoccupied with how some lsu fans think. It's your insecurity speaking. I get it. It just isn't something many of us care about. We enjoy the new again rivalry even if you can be made to feel ashamed over it.

Our rivalry with LSU is starting to heat up, why put an end to that to go back to the school that was the ONLY reason we left the conference?

We are going to play them, the weekend after OU sounds like a great idea.
