Would you give up the Arkansas game in JerryWorld if that means it gets replaced with OU playing Arkansas in Dallas every year?

What about it getting replaced with tu playing Arkansas every year?

I don't think tu playing Arkansas in Dallas would affect recruiting for A&M one way or the other. I could see an OU vs Arkansas game every year making it more difficult to recruit the Dallas area.

What are your thoughts?

Don't care
If ou wants to give up a home game, go for it.

Oklahoma is already playing Texas in a neutral site conference game. I seriously doubt they'd play two neutral site conference games each year.

I don't see it getting replaced with OU-Arkansas or Texas-Arkansas.

Both OU and Texas already play each other in Dallas every year. Wouldn't seem to make much sense for either of those schools to lock-in two games away from home every year in the same market.

I think something like Texas Tech vs Arkansas is more likely. I imagine Jerry still wants his Hogs to play a game in DFW every year, and I assume Arkansas still sees value maintaining a presence there. Plus Texas Tech will need a strength of schedule boost once Texas and Oklahoma are off the schedule.

the whole recruiting impact with regard to A&M and Arkansas playing annually in Jerryworld...

has proven to be a very big myth

folks will look back in several years...in disbelief that A&M played 10 games or so at Jerryworld

In theory it's a chance for Aggies (and hogs) in DFW to get a game close to home. In practice, it's a chance for Jerry Jones to fleece both fan bases.

So I would give up this neutral site game in a heartbeat and it's irrelevant who they replace us with.

My thought is I'd give up playing Arkansas in JerryWorld and never play there again. Go back to homes, which is what we'll do when this stupid contract is finished. The contract was made when we were in different conferences and is stupid now that we joined the SEC. The fact that we wanted out O it, but Jerry wouldn't tells you this benefits Arkansas mire than A&M. Also, in an age of conference realignment, how TF did our lawyers sign a 10 year deal that made no unwind provisions for conference realignments?!! Our lawyers should have been fired for that dumb, shiat, but were probably promoted.

Floecr? You mean basically ship proceeds to Fayetteville and BCS? Or are suggesting Kyle pricing is also fleecing???

I live in Dallas and I don't care about the game being in Jerry World, college football should be played on campus unless its post season play in my opinion.

I would give up the Arkansas game full stop. I like playing them, but would prefer home&homes over a neutral site game every time.

So have you gone to any of the games? Just curious. (I haven't and have lived in new McKinney since fall of 2014.)

No more neutral sites. Jerry World cost the Ag fans and students mucho dollars and the businesses in BCS got screwed. Arlington and Jerry benefitted. Why. Recruiting gain. Heck no. Kill the lie.

Since money is the oxygen of intercollegiate athletics, I am guessing raising ticket prices to cover the unsubstantiated "mucho dollars" supposedly ripped out of the Ag fans and students that attended poorly???

Maybe John should negotiate for more BCS bonds since we have Texas and LSU as likely home and home rotating permanent opponents? That will fully realize the H.L. Mencken quote:

Perhaps this will help you understand my position. BCS donated approximately 40 million for the recently Kyle Field upgrade. They expect revenue from fans. If they go to Arlington then they pay Jerry and the businesses there. Alumni and fans have a substantial position in BCS with homes, students in various housing. Now they have to travel to Arlington , pay gas round trip and rent a hotel room. My analysis and many of my friends in BCS agree. Fill out a spread sheet and load it up. It is a loser for the BCS businesses as well as students and Alumni.

We have Kyle Field. The game belongs on campus. If Ark is the home team and they want to play at Jerry World that season, fine.

Sounds like OU just needs to move to jerryworld if they love it so much.

ETA, Ags need to get out of there.

I do not like most neutral site games because nothing can replace the passion and energy of playing at the campuses. I am glad we won't play in Arkansas in Arlington beyond 2024. The only annual neutral site games that I like are Oklahoma vs Texas in Dallas at the Cotton Bowl and Florida vs Georgia at the TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville, Florida.

With the Land thieves playing in the BDF championship in Arlington pretty much every year off the table I think they would jump at the chance to keep the additional DFW area game.

Perhaps you'll understand mine: the Arkansas game was off the table when they made that commitment.

Would love to see the Ags just walk away from this game. No, that won't happen obviously, but this game belongs on campus.

I've considered going to this game a couple of times, but I'm just not interested in spending the night in a hotel nor driving back to Katy in the dead of night.

Contract with Satan runs through 2024. Highly doubt A&M has any interest in extending it.

I'd have some sympathy for BCS if the hotels wouldn't gouge the bell out of everyone.

You know, I liked this game in Dallas AND we were in the Big12. I didn't like that we seemed to have a lead at Halftime (Oh yea Petrino was the HC) and couldn't close the game out.

I didn't like it there after we got in the SEC. It's not really that big of a rivalry anyway.

When the contract runs out, (& I think it's pretty soon) we need to go back to home & home.

IMO Jerry world is a terrible "College Fan Experience." Cr@ppy rules on tailgating, and a I just hate that Jumbotron. It's difficult to watch the game. Oh and then there's the cost!

As someone who has taken advantage of A&M playing in proximity within the metroplex: there's few enough home games as is and much of the college atmosphere doesn't travel. Reinstate the home and home.

Agreed, having it at the Death Star does a disservice to the college football fan. I get extending to a broader audience like the metroplex to facilitate those that aren't able to travel to the Universities, but a couple of years would have been enough to serve that purpose. Now its only benefit is to line Jerry's pockets.

I'm not sure why what we do and what they do should even be linked. Don't care what they do, I hate that we play at Jerry World. It's an awful stadium for a college game.

I get you, but I believe Mike Sherman wanted that game there because our recruiting was so down in the Metroplex. That said - and to your point, I believe - that was because we weren't winning.

Winning helps recruit better, even in places like CA, FL and NJ.

Keep in mind the academic side had loaned $16 million to the athletic department after the 2008 financial shortfall they reorganized the athletic department budget to start repaying that loan for the 2009 fiscal year. Sherman had come in at a discount so he could pay his assistants more. The number from the game at the time indicated at least a short-term guarantee that was rumored near $5 million per team though like with any bowl game each team likely was compensated based on tickets sold to their boosters.

Booster support at that time was clearly poor or there would not have been a $16 million loan and the facilities would have already been improved before Slocum was fired which Bob Gates commented on putting Slocum at a disadvantage. Byrne was also hired via Oregon and Nebraska as AD and his attention to financial details was beyond scrupulous with respect to funding facilities. I know he has a reputation of being $Bill and usually is regarded as being more interested in any other sport other than football, but he also noted that money is the oxygen of intercollegiate athletics.

As far as I am aware, Arkansas has already been notified as well as the SEC Conference office that we do not intend to extend the contract, so for us it ends after the 2024 game. If Sankey interferes and extends it, then you will know he utterly hates our school. But the Metroplex likely will be the highest population region in the state by 2035 if not 2050. Plus Jerry has an ego and wanted to move the Cotton Bowl game and likely engineered his school that he captained to a national championship to have both the will and the forthwithal to make the deal work and knows the purpose is for Arkansas to have a game played in Texas to access Texas recruiting.

With a high likelihood of playing at least every other year in Texas as part of the conference schedule, I'm sure their need for the game is reduced, too. But it's undoubtedly more comfortable for the Jones family and the state and school administrators of Arkansas to join him in his suite. Such is the nature of crony capitalism after all...

I think there is little to complain about at this point and the shortsightedness of Aggie fans on this board is proven yet again by the discussion focused on their opinions as opposed to the history and facts. I don't care what happens with the game by the way. For all kinds of reasons I haven't been able to go though I might this fall or next since circumstances have changed for me a bit.

But I do try to follow the bouncing ball as it flows through the historic context. If you want national championship teams in every major sport, expect to double the funding for coaches and development support one more time and the NIL support probably has to go up a similar amount if not more if you want Alabama's dominance. It's possible. But we have been historically very stingy across the fan base and don't pay attention to what it really takes to win.

Let this neutral site game die its slow death. When we play Arky in the future...and its not critical that we do...play them in Kyle or in the Ozarks.
