How long do they think they would last without the funding from the A&M system?
If they want to go let 'em go.
That's just that much more money for the rest of the schools in the system.

It's the Alumni President, I don't think it's his decision to make.

Probably none. My limited understanding, the various systems are just a level of oversight and high level management between the various individual institutions and the legislature. They could possibly move to another system, but the legislature won't allow them to be independent.

Put some societal rules back in place and we have little to no talent in our major sports cause they'll be there - be careful what you wish for - our benefit has been their loss

Everyone wants to run their own show but nobody wants to pay for it.
There should be a way to elevate the status without risking the funding as most HBCU would love to have PVU money. It is better to remain a part of the crown until you have the funds to be independent,

The statement that "PVAMU" wants to leave is a bit misleading. The president of their alumni association voiced his opinion. And no doubt there are others who share that opinion. But, I don't believe that he speaks for PV as a whole.

Agency problem again.
PVAMU President wants the glory of running his own university and "being the ultimate boss". Now his bosses are the regents of the A&M system I am guessing so his powers are very less.

But PVAMU will suffer from this in the long term and the President does not care. He will stick on to his job for another 2-3 years and move on to a better President job at a better university.

Loser: PVAMU
