Has anyone else tried to assign permanent rivals for the 3/6 schedule? I made a grid, 16 down and 16 across, and did a pretty good job (I think) of placing teams in that structure… until I got to Vandy. Here's what I came up with: Bama (Auburn, LSU, Tenn); Ark (Ole Miss, Mizzou, Texas); Auburn (Bama, Georgia, Ole Miss); Florida (Georgia, LSU, OU); Georgia (Auburn, Florida, USC-e); Kentucky (Mizzou, USC-e, Tenn); LSU (Bama, Florida, A&M); Ole Miss (Ark, Auburn, Miss St); Miss St (Ole Miss, OU, A&M); Mizzou (Ark, UK, Vandy), OU (Fla, Miss St, tu); S Carolina (Ga, UK, A&M); Tenn (Bama, UK, tu); texas (Ark, OU, Tenn); A&M (LSU, Miss St, USC-e); Vandy (Mizzou). I think there's a decent competitive balance. Most old rivalries are maintained. Arkie and OU both WANT tu, and Tennessee is a good cultural fit for them. Vandy is an outlier. I'm sure everyone wants them as a permanent rival.

We've been told that it's very likely that ours is LSU, State, and the sips.

My preference would be LSU, Texas and Arky. Is that generally everyone's opinion? I agree i hear it's likely State, however.

Dgaf. "College" football is dead. If you want to spend saturdays watching the next batch of thugs vying for an arbitrary championship, by all means… do it. God speed!

But if you want to uncouple your well-being from espn and Disney overlords, that's even more healthy.

This is my favorite Texags peculiarity. "I've completely lost interest in college football!!!" Hastily posted to the College football forum of a dedicated college football fan site.

Why would you put effort into this and not have Texas as a permanemt rival? Complete waste of time.

We won't have Arky. Most likely tu, LSU, and someone else but not likely to be Arky.

It's not necessarily what I THINK will happen, it's what I would like to see. I think there needs to be some crossover between 'the old guard' and the newbies. OU and Arkansas really WANT tu as their permanent rival, while many Ags don't. We will be playing tu every-other year, anyway, so it's not like we can avoid them. Tennessee/texas would have more national appeal, and would have a historical connection. Many early Texans came from Tennessee.

I always find these types of posts sad and delusional yet very telling as well. As my old football coach would say "and you wonder why..."

I mean, he didn't say that to me...I just heard it.

Winner goes by UT that year, loser goes by tu. What an easy rivalry to make. Aggies would never allow this /eyeroll

1st, "cup-of-Joe04" will likely be a tough guy and try to troll you, just another mid-2000's tough guy who wish he had an online forum when he was younger to be tough.

Now, It sucks we get stuck with State, the blue bloods of the soon to be old SEC West want nothing to do with them. Due to our deal with the devil and having Mizzou join in 2012, we cannot toss them for their academics nor athletics. I guess we'll have annual games to look forward to in LSU and TU. Lord knows we need Vandy for the academics.

A few things:

Bama has Auburn and Tennessee--probably the third would be MSU
UGA has Florida and Auburn--probably the third is USCe
Florida has UGa and LSU--probably the 3rd is USCe
Auburn has Bama and UGa, so their third would be Mizzou
Vandy will be UK, Tennessee, and Ole Miss
USCe would be UGa, UK, and Florida
UK would be Tennessee, USCe, and Vandy
Tennessee would be Bama, UK, and Vandy
Mizzou would be Arky, OU, and Auburn
Arky would be Mizzou, OU, and Texas
OU would be Texas, Arky, and Mizzou
Texas would be OU, Arky, and A&M
A&M would be Texas, LSU, and MSU
LSU would be Ole Miss, A&M, and Florida
MSU would be Ole Miss, A&M, and Bama
Ole Miss would be MSU, LSU, and Vandy

I don't think it's settled and nine conference games is therefore unlikely in Fall of 2024. But I've been wrong before…

It's not settled, but it would be a messy deal if you arbitrarily throw another team in each division and play a weird one off season as well. The only thing preventing this from happening is renegotiating the contract with ESPN. The fact that they were magically able to work out the exit from the B12 makes me thing they will do the same with the nine game schedule.

What makes it even more strange is that there were 16 other people that couldn't pick up on the cognitive dissonance and blue-starred it.
