Verbal to the buckeyes?!? In an area of critical need we couldn't land this kid? Did we ever have a legitimate shot at swaying him to the good guys??

I'm convinced someone on staff is pissing off high school coaches or something.

It's getting ridiculous

I like how people think we could seriously compete with and offer from Ohio State, Alabama, or Georgia.

There isn't a program in the state worth staying over those schools.

Don't even try and pretend we're not getting worked in recruiting.

We will land some guys with offers from those schools. I never once thought Payton Pierce was even a slight chance.

That said, you have about 5-6 really, really good LBers in state this year. You better find a way to get at least 2 of them. Xavier Atkins, Tyanthony Smith, Justin Williams, Payton Pierce, Davhon Keys, and Maurice Williams all look good. One of the deeper years for in state linebackers in a while, so agai better find a way to get two of them

LSU has 3 of them committed, but I think we flip one, and have a good chance with Tyanthony Smith as well. So there is a good chance we grab two four star linebackers in state. Need to make it happen. Justin williams will be the slugfest.

At what point to we stop blaming coaches and start blaming higher-ups? If **** rolls down hill, blame should roll up.

We recruited the 15th ranked class, including 9th in average stars coming off back to back 8-4 and 5-7 seasons in years 4/5

It's about on field results at this point. Why would you expect us to recruit better than that coming off those seasons in years 4 and 5?

As is, I think we are set up pretty decent in this class, even though the commitments aren't falling in. But.......

We need to win. If we do, we will close very strong and finish easily with a top 10 class, maybe even borderline top 5. If we do not win this year, fisher won't get it done anyways. All up to him.

Half the guys you're calling 4-stars are rated like 89 or 90… even someone rated 97 is a 4-star, so there are significant levels & drop-offs to this.

Okay? Tyanthony and Xavier Atkins are around 91. Not quite as high as Payton Pierce, but I'm not going to get upset with landing a couple 91 four star linebackers. That would be a good thing. What did I say that is wrong, and why did it need correction? Everyone knows there is a wide range of 4 stars. But we aren't going to land 25 97 ranked players in this class. But if you can load up with a lot of 90, 91, 92 types and grab a few 94-97 guys? That adds up.

Hope we can get the big one in Justin Williams late.

Win half the games we lost last season and we would have been in a bit better shape. Last year's record resulted in some serious damage that will take some time to recover from as far as getting lore elite players.

Santucci screwed A&M with the linebacker room. They should have known he wasn't the right guy when he completely whiffed in the 2021 class and ended up with 0 linebackers. His recruiting failures may cost the Aggies a game or two over the next 2 years unless they are able to find some success in the portal. The 2024 season is when that 2022 class will all be very experienced juniors. That's the season we are all thinking the Aggies can make a real run at a championship. They have got to find some top knotch linebackers to plug in there or help with depth. No matter how good the starters are, if you don't have good depth that can play, the starters will get tired and that's when injuries happen.

Jimbos recruiting magic is gone, and we've blown whatever NIL momentum we had by being the first to go big. If we don't win big this year we are headed into the downward spiral and another decade of mediocre results while we decide how to fire Jimbo and roll the dice on another new coach.

I'm thinking the downward spiral of the jimbo era may have started !

Blame fans for toxicity. It ran Bear Bryant off, too…as well as Bellard. And Stallings thought he wasn't in his coaching prime yet.

When do toxic fans stop trying to fix through being know nothings and performing superstitious rituals?

Exactly. If you choose any of those three schools, there is probably a 90% (or greater) of getting to play in the national championship game at least once in the four or five years you will be in college. Come here, and the chance to do so approaches zero. If you get an offer from those three you take it.

Once there, if you are not good enough to beat out the talent ahead of you, and if seeing the playing field becomes more important, then hit the portal.

Totally agree. We are doing well for the results on the field. We need to win big this year.

I agree with you. I live in Lucas and have had one kid at Lovejoy. The other is in a private school in Dallas. There is much more of a pro-A&M atmosphere at the Dallas private school than there is at Lovejoy. Lots of Aggie parents at the Dallas private school. It has always seemed to me that there aren't many Aggies in Lucas. At least not in my neighborhood or among the parents of my kid's friends.

One thing about Lucas is that most families have quite a bit of money and flying out of state every weekend to watch their kid play football is no big deal to them financially. So, for most of them, there is no reason for them to care if their child plays for a school in another state.

Since when is Ohio State in the same league as Bama and Georgia? They are the other team besides us and horn who manages to does less with more talent than anyone else in CFB.

I'm with you. I think they really need to move to a 6 star system. There are way too many 4 stars in the composite system.
