I highly doubt the ACC will go to a form of revenue sharing, even though Clemson and FSU are responsible for the lion share of the ACC revenue. Their AD didn't layout a time table but makes it pretty clear what they currently have with the ACC is not good enough. Does FSU move the needle enough for either the SEC or B10 to take them in and redo their new TV deals?

Looks like Clemson's AD had a press conference that echoed FSU presser

why in the world did Florida State and Clemson agree to a TV deal that runs until 2036?

that was incredibly short-sighted.

generally speaking all long-term contracts in sports are dumb, because things change so quickly

The money, time and effort being thrown at the college game is ridiculous. I dont see how it'll be sustainable when people wake up realize they are prioritizing $$$M to a school sport in the hopes of some trophy.

To be perfectly clear: it is all paid for with private, often taxable donations and various non-state revenue streams.

I tend to agree with you. It's crazy what is being spent for a college game. But, I think universities are chasing the visibility more than a trophy, and they must think it's worth it. The changes to the game are making it less enjoyable to a lot of people though, and I could see it all crashing down someday, but who knows.

The SEC also left money on the table by signing a longer team deal than the B10 for example. Sometimes things that look good today turn out to be bad decisions.

Ha! Trust me, we will know it's less enjoyable when media companies pay less for a TV deal not more. The recent B10 contract signals CFB is undervalued not overvalued. Who knows, maybe this changes but right now ESPN is getting a steal on the SEC and ACC deals.

The failure of Bally's and AT&T regional sports networks suggest the market overall for live sports is over saturated, on the other hand…

That would be significant to the conversation if they were involved in bidding for college football media rights.

So would Mizzou. If they were released to the B1G. They don't want any part of the ACC

Universities are told to sit down and shut up by ESPN and Fox. Schools get paid handsomely for not making waves and being good little TV products.

The two big sports networks are installing the soccer league model from Europe (meaning lots of regional professional leagues) in college football, with literally no opposition. School association will be dissolved at some point and the networks will install whomever they choose to run football teams. The Twelfth Man Foundation may retain the ownership of A&M football in name only, but ESPN will throw money at the TMF (and every other fundraising arm of every university) to have a greedy business person put in charge of whatever Aggie football looks like in the next decade or two.

As a sports business, colleges do really well but not well enough. The networks are in the business of sports and see big fat hens ripe for the taking.

The goal is to make insane money because the folks driving this are driven by pure greed.

Not the worst decision snakey has made...
NO AMNESTY!

in order for democrats, liberals, progressives et al to continue their illogical belief systems they have to pretend not to know a lot of things; by pretending "not to know" there is no guilt, no actual connection to conscience. Denial of truth allows easier trespass.

Cfb and nfl's biggest money add is the scarcity of games. If it was a 30 game season like college basketball, the ratings would fall off a ton.

The non nfl sports are all in a bad spot though when their current tv deals run out. More will be doing what mls is with apple+, for a lot less than these regional sports networks. There's just too much competition for peoples eye balls for long seasons.

Sec and big have to be near the point of diminishing returns

honestly, money could be spent doing some good in the world instead of inflating this game.

that's where I've gotten to. I don't want the sport to go away because i love it, but it makes more money than it should and my money is better donated elsewhere.

Dodds created the LHN with the goal of using sports to fund the academic side. As far as I am aware the maximum annual transfer to the academic side was about $5 million.

If you want to give that much to fund scholarships and endow chairs, you should call the Texas A&M Foundation or a local charity.
