So I'm taking my senior daughter and some of her high school senior friends to B/CS this weekend for a freshman orientation thing and was wondering where a good, reasonably priced, 'colorful' place to eat would be…someplace that has a bit of local charm and isn't terrible…

Any suggestions?

Aggie related cause there's probably a signed Jamblorskie Layne jersey on the wall somewhere…

Stumble drunkenly down University from Northgate to Texas and there's like 30 of them all along the road now

Or, spend some dough and impress them with The Republic Steakhouse. Not reasonable, but worth the price.

Napa Flatts is probably the closest to your specifications.

Koppe Bridge is more charming if you're in the mood for pretty damn good burgers and hot dogs.

Mad Taco and RX Pizza are also solid.

Enjoy your time in God's country!

I had 2 kids finish up recently. Not colorful but their top choice is always Fuego. Kids and their friends love that place and always want to go.

I would say

Fuego
The Feed Barn
Hullabaloo (Breakfast or Lunch)
Harvey Washbangers
Koppe Bridge
Wings N' More (hated here, but all my kids friends loved this place)
Layne's (Original location only)
Double Dave's

Wings N 'More would be my choice. It's like a much much better Buffalo Wild Wings. great food outside of the wings menu as well.

Chicken Oil will not be reopening until "sometime in 2023" following last April's fire.

J. Cody's BBQ would be your best price value restaurant.
Lots of Aggie stuff too.
Also has burgers, steaks and seafood, plus a large selection of vegetables.
Choice of 4-5 cobblers.
Locally owned.
Off of S. College not far North of Campus.

If they like a good hamburger take them to Koppe.

If they want trendy lots a of places close to campus such as Cava for Greek. Drive around that area, I have no doubt they would see a place they would like.

If they like brunch type food. Maybe tryout Snooze.

Best advice. Pick from these and you can't go wrong. I'd only add the Dixie Chicken because it's the only place in town you can dine with a rattlesnake. Literally.

High schoolers would probably like the Century Square area because it is trendy. There are several restaurant options there.

If you don't, at the very least, take them to The Chicken, you FAIL as an Aggie father. Get them some Tijuana fries and grab you a hang down.

Since Chicken Oil is still renovating, you could have dinner at Koppe, Layne's, or Double Dave's (or Gumby's as per my son. smh!). All the other places are going to be similar to some chain restaurant near where you live and not real distinctive of BCS. J. Cody's is pretty good choice and perhaps All the King's Men.......Cooper's is like everywhere else too.

I would save the nicer restaurants for parent visit weekends.

I, of course, would show them Duddley's too.

p.s. Sbisa would be an awesome dad joke!

The Republic Steakhouse is legit...stands toe to toe with anything in Houston in my opinion.

My old roommate and I wanted to do that last night when we heard broken glass over where a bus boy was clearing a table.

Take your daughter and her friends to Century square. They'll like being where college kids are. Tons of choices there plus crepes or ice cream for dessert. They won't appreciate the Republic. You could even take them to downtown Bryan. Lots of fun places to eat down there.

Cinema plaza just east on University from Northgate. New area across from campus. Lots of popular restaurants & pub style eateries. Very popular with students & close to the campus.
