Wow, I never thought of him being a 17-year-old starting college QB in 1987.
Let's go, Brandon!

i believe it was the 89 season but Florida st lost either the first or second game of the season to USM. i remember thinking how did they lose to southern miss. FSU was i think number two in the nation. looking back it does make a tad more sense. Brett Farve at qb is pretty good.

kind of like our loss to southwest louisiana in 96. obviously we blew it but looking back jake delhomme was a pretty damn good qb and brandon stokely was a pretty darn good wr for the colts. so you can see how it happens.

Pretty sure I remember an interview of Favre after a particularly loud NFL road game where they asked him if it was the loudest stadium he'd played in. He said it was pretty loud for the NFL but the loudest place he'd ever played was Texas A&M. Did I dream that or does someone else remember?

I think I was at that game but it's been a minute.

First A&M game I ever attended. Went as a small kid with my brother, dad and grandad. One of my great childhood memories!

this game was also Bucky Richardson's first collegiate start

the game was tied at 7 at halftime...

then Darren Lewis broke a 77-yard TD run in the 3rd quarter...

and Bucky had an 82-yard TD run in the 4th quarter that put the Ags up 24-7

perhaps hard to believe...but the 1987 win at Southern Miss...

was Jackie's only win outside the lone star state in his 7 seasons

I was at that game in Jackson Mississippi with my brother and Dad. Bucky broke off a long run and you could tell he was special. Roper laid the wood to!

My memory from the game, it was poorly attended and Jackie Sherrell said in the paper on Sunday, A&M would not be back because they are used to playing before a much bigger crowd.

That shocked me, too. I wonder when or if he replaced Chandler at any point.

I was at the game and surprisingly I was the first to suspect, at the time, that Farve would be accused of defrauding the state of Mississippi by misappropriating welfare funds to build a volleyball stadium for his unborn daughter.

Living in Lafayette at that time we had 8 turnovers and 3 int td returns. Delhomme and Brandon Stokely weren't why they beat us. One of the worst losses ever

That USM team also had future Cleveland Brown receiver Michael Jackson. Dude was one Smooth Criminal.

Also heard a story that Southern Miss thought they had a chance if they played in heat of day because they were tougher and scrappier then an unsuspecting FSU team, so they requested the game be moved from the evening to the afternoon claiming it would save them money from one less hotel night.

small correction...I don't think Bucky started the game. Pavlas threw a TD pass in the 1st quarter

Quinn Grovey was a spare from an NFL standpoint...

but he inflicted two very painful late season losses on the maroon-n-white in 1988 & 1989 --- that cost A&M 1st place in the standings

the 1987 win over Washington is one of those forgotten big wins in aggie lore.

the Huskies were ranked #10 coming into Kyle...with the aforementioned Chris Chandler as their QB.

Don James was the head coach. Gary Pinkel the O.C. The Huskies finished the year 7-4-1.

it would be 29 years until another Pac-10 / Pac-12 team visited Kyle Field (UCLA in 2016)

I was at that game with a friend that had never been to an Aggie game. Had been bragging about our defense on the trip to College Station. Midway through game he turns to me and says "You told me how good the Aggie defense was, that freshman quarterback is really tearing them up."
