What do you consider proper etiquette when invited to a wedding at the same time there is Aggie football on?

Imo, this lady can get bent. If you don't want people watching football during your wedding reception, don't schedule a wedding during the fall.

I'd enjoy the wedding and see how much we lost by when I got home.

Is it open bar? That makes a big difference.

My class of '95 daughter got married on a Saturday when we were playing Texas Tech. She pulled my headphones off as we got ready to walk down the aisle.

Eh it's rude to not be engaged with the wedding/other guests if you're committed to attending. You can also not go.

I was at a wedding a decade ago of my wife's friend and the mother of the bride came and berated a bunch of us dudes watching whatever game was on the TV at the bar. ***** then turn off the TVs if you don't want us watching.

I once erupted in the middle of the maid of honor speech when the trailing team scored a meaningless late td for the backdoor cover

Enjoy and focus on the wedding.

Half the time the Aggie game is just going to disappoint you anyway.

Doesn't sound like a meaningless td to me

Brides who want to get married in the fall need to realize that not only is there a conflict with games on the wedding day, but there is potential conflict on every anniversary. So be prepared that on your 15th wedding anniversary he may not want to go out on a weekend getaway if there is a meaningful game on that weekend.

Now for me, I would just watch the game on DVR as I watch nearly all football games via DVR so I can FF injuries, reviews, commercials, halftime, etc. Not only does it cut the 3.5 hour investment down to about 1 hour or so, it allows me to quickly skip through most the 2nd half when the outcome is no longer in question.
It has shortened the disappointing investment in time that this past year's team offered.

Brides should take note of the mayhem commercial from this year.

First, a wedding is about the couple getting married, not the audience. If they want to get married while the biggest game of the season, they are completely right to do so without explaining it to anyone.

Second, if you are invited to such a wedding and you'd rather go to/ watch the Aggies play, totally within your purview, and you don't need to have an excuse. Again, it's about the couple, not you.

Lastly, this.

SIL got married during MSU game two years ago. I found it rude for her not to have a TV showing the game during the reception.

I watched the game along with my wife and dozens of others on our phones & tablets.

Wife is from Fredericksburg.

We chose Nov 15 as our wedding day.

My 3 future brother in laws said thats fine-- but we won't be there, that's when hunting season opens.

We moved the date to Oct 25.

You and your wife are idiots. When my son was at A&M, I sat him and all his roommates down and said y'all are ******* if you schedule fall weddings when it's your turn. They got the message

And deer season starts the first weekend in November. SMDH

My cousin got married in Trumbull, CT the day of the 1992 Rice game. First time in my life I ever saw fall colors. I bet this house is worth a pretty penny (both then and today). Taken 10/17/1992.

No idea whose house this was. I thought it was beautiful, so I pulled over and took this picture.

I got married during Aggie football season, but I had the common courtesy to do it on a Sunday.

A lotta guys are committed to not attending but their wives or girlfriends are. This is the primary issue.

Just got to the wedding and go online afterward to find out what happened in the game. There's no requirement to have to watch every single game. Again, it's only one miss.

Even at that, with TV dictating the game times, they're probably likely to start at an off brand time that doesn't clash with the wedding anyhow.

What would happen if a friend or loved one were to die during football season? Do you miss the funeral? Obviously, that can't be planned in advance.

Meh, hopefully friends are considerate and don't schedule weddings when they'll conflict with a large chunk of their guests' interests. But if it's a good friend you go and dedicate the time and watch the game later. "Friends are the ones who see you married and buried."

Sounds like those guys needed to do a better job selecting their own spouse…

My wife and I got married in September 20 years ago. I knew I made a good decision when I went to pick her up from her apartment and she had a calendar and an Aggie football schedule out and was circling the bye weeks on the calendar. We had our wedding on a bye week Saturday.

40 years of a great marriage! My buddies were there and nobody pulled harder for the Fightin' Texas Aggies.
It began on Open Date November 6, 1982.

The wedding is for the couple. The reception is to thank the guests for attending, and for enjoyment and celebration. You go to the wedding and pay attention to that. You enjoy yourself as you please at the reception, and allow your guests to do that also, in my view. If there's a game, and that's what some of them want to watch or follow, then what's the problem?
