Reading news items about TCU heading to the National Championship, I came upon the article below. Glad to hear Coach Fran's cancer is in full remission. T&P for Coach Fran and his family.

Amazing what Coach Fran started at TCU, followed up by Coach Gary Patterson.

Coach who started TCU's rise feels good about the Horned Frogs, and his health, too
BY MAC ENGEL UPDATED DECEMBER 31, 2022 8:23 PM

The man who believed in the possibilities of TCU football and should forever be credited for setting a foundation that has TCU in the college football playoffs will watch the Fiesta Bowl with a rooting interest, and an endless gratitude for life.

Dennis Franchione recently received the news that his cancer is in full remission.

The man who came to TCU after the 1997 season and turned around a program that had been one of the worst in college football for decades learned he had cancer in the early fall of 2021.

"Remission was the greatest Christmas gift ever!" Franchione said via text.

"Remission was the greatest Christmas gift ever!" Franchione said via text. Franchione, 71, originally had a cancerous tumor discovered in his kidney in 2016. After clearing that hurdle, he had several clean years.

In the late summer of 2021, he fell, and ensuing X-rays revealed multiple cancers.

Fran' remained in high spirits despite the prognosis, and then the emotionally and physically exhausting cancer treatments.
Somehow missed this whole Fran cancer story. Glad to see that he's had some good years since the original diagnosis!

As other posters have already stated - eff cancer

While I will always believe Franchione was a huge mistake for A&M, I am glad to see this. Having lost my mom to cancer, I know that cancer sucks.

Coach Fran did beat the sips twice with Mac Brown. The problem that Fran had was he got in a hole with some top recruits not making it. Of course the horrible defensive play with Carl.

yes, in the 128-year history of texas aggie football....

only 3 times has the maroon-n-white beaten a 10-win (or better) longhorn team.

and Fran owns 2 of those wins

Fran was ahead of his times with that. These days you can just pay up front and there's no big deal.

Glad to hear Fran is cancer free.

The A&M football program, however, is not.
CNN is an enemy of the state and should be treated as such.

Why? He's a former A&M head coach. People talked about when Slocum overcame his cancer too.

Great news for Coach Fran.

I survived cancer and have to be checked every 6 months for remission. It sucks but I'm glad to be alive and have great empathy for those that are suffering.

You are right, my mom got it and survived, my father in law got it and died. I wonder why medical science has not been able to solve this problem.
