I struggle understanding roughing vs running into. My understanding is it has a lot to do with which leg you hit. And kicking leg is generally running into. But that was the most violent running into I've seen.

Exactly. Setting my Aggie bias aside, at some point you have to ask - just as a fan of the game of football - why even keep watching? This isn't really a fairly managed event.
