yes he will likely not get fired in the next two years
but could be deadman walking inside of two years

Hoping another school hires Jimbo after the disaster here can take away from how bad of a decision it was to hire him at such an absurd contract.

I wouldn't assume it necessarily has to be a current OC.

Lane was let go by Saban because of a clash of egos right before the championship game

No OC in the CFP is going to take a lateral move to work for a coach whose seat is blazing right now.

His seat isn't as hot as you think.

Only because of a ridiculous contract. We fired Sumlin with better results. Is not for the contract, he'd be Gone this year. That isn't what a top OC wants to sign up for.

regarding coach Prime head coaches taking better jobs have different expectations
I think the rules are different for coordinators and position coaches
If we offered the best OL coach in the country the OC job I doubt him taking that job and announcing would affect his ability to coach in his bowl game.
Sherrone Moore would be a home run hire on multiple fronts!

Or, another angle might be that the OC from a bowl bound team has respect for his team and players and he doesn't want it to be a distraction. Announce when the season is over.

It's also possible that an OC wants to build on his resume to obviously become a HC. If he can win there and here, that looks pretty impressive. Kinda along the same lines as getting your masters degree from a different university than your bachelor's.

There are all kinds of reasons that an OC hasn't been announced yet.

Personally hoping for Joe Brady and he could definitely announce his intentions to take the A&M OC job and coach the bills QB's til their season is over

Brady doesn't really excite me. His only stint as an OC was an absolute disaster

Jimmy Johnson is still covering the NFL for Fox. Give it time!

He's racing Indycar and going to part time NASCAR again in 2023. I assume we're talking the greatest driver of all time.

Brian McClendon and Dell McGee - UGA Passing and Running Game Coordinators - are decent options ready for a bump after the playoffs...

Same with Sherrone Moore, Matt Hart, and Matt Weiss at Michigan... Sherrone and Matt Weiss are currently sharing play calling duties....

NFL tight end coach is who it is. Can't name them for fear of ban.

He was great for LSU in their title run. Not great with Carolina but without a decent QB the OC is rarely going to have any success.

If not the CFP or bowl game, maybe he is coaching in the NFL and we won't name him until after the regular season.

all i know is this is potentially a great buy low, sell high opportunity for the right offensive coordinator. we were very young and have just about everyone back next season including what appears to be a very good young qb. if you believe in yourself, and assuming jimbo gave you play calling duties this job right now could be a huge spring board opportunity to a HC job. we averaged like 17 pts a game so it won't be hard to improve on that and you look like the hero. the talent is there.

I don't think this is happening. I think we legit don't have a candidate yet. What benefit is it to us to wait until after their bowl game?

It's not an issue of benefit to us. It's an issue of contractual obligations. Do you want A&M to get sued for tortious inference of contract? We have to wait until it's contractually okay to make the hire. .

LOL at the crap you jokers come up with to justify Jimbo's failures.

He wasn't the OC/playcaller for LSU.

I think you misunderstood my post
There is basically Zero chance Jimbo gets hired by another school
I don't think he gets fired soon just because the cost of the guaranteed contract but if next 2 years are not better he is guaranteed to be fired as soon as the buyout total is low enough
