Does it really anger others like it does me when no one commits to our brand anymore? Anthony Hill was never committed to us if he flips that easily and to our rivals at that. No way in hell you could ever get a real aggie commit to wear burnt orange. Harold Perkins? He was never bought into our pride and amazing traditions we have. I like seeing a guy like Evan Stewart push through all the BS and stick his commitment with us and play his butt off. I want more guys that love aggieland and the fans! They can be 2 stars but Im tired of seeing so much flop and letting the sips and corn dogs just rub it in when they know they don't have the pride and tradition the 12th man does. You ever been to a UT game? it's boring and the fans just aren't what you see at KYLE my UT friend has actually told me this and i agree 1000%. Something needs to be changed. We have everything we need to win recruiting battles now we need to start getting these recruits to see how much the team and fans are in this with them. No reason for losing or losing recruits.

At this point the words "committed" and "college football" don't even intersect

Evan Stewart is likely staying because he knows he will get targeted a lot and has a good chance to be drafted high in two years moreso than any great love of the Aggies. If he hadn't had the playing time and personal sucess he had this year, I could easily see him gone.

Not many college football players have any great commitment to their universities when they come in anymore, especially the 5 star and high 4 star players. That is true for all schools. Some may develop that before they leave.

The players are more likely commit to a " Brand " if the brand reflects their own brand
The U ( we are thugs ), Bama ( we win because of superior talent ) tu ( we are better than you ) & tOSU ( we are football team pretending to be a University )

A&M no longer has a definitive brand , of the handful of things that make up our brand most HS football players will not see that as complimentary to their brand.
Personally I disliked "We run this State" branding attempt By Sumlin but in hindsight it was a brand that if it would have caught on could have done well with recruits

My advice for any A&M coach is not lose 5 games in a row. That's a killer and if we had just won 3 more games, we would still have Hill.

And we should have easily won 3 more games with the teams we played this year. Jimbo messed up big time. I hope he can figure it out.

We still have some studs. Hicks and Owens are the real deal! We should get some corners.

We just need a couple of stud linebackers which makes the Hill ordeal even worse.

NIL has created mercenaries and will change the landscape of college football like no other.

These guys are supposed to go from "rationally and carefully evaluating multiple great options for college" straight to "fully 100% committed to the brand and hate the rivals" in an instant?

Hill was a must and so was perkins i think that's why it's frustrating. we can still nab some guys and i'm seeing grimes at like 50-50 towards us wnd usc right now so that would be a great DB i just don't understand why hill wouldn't want to come here and start right away

We were never getting Perkins unless we unloaded a ton of money and if we had even done that he probably still would have went LSU. He's from LA and all his family are tiger fans. If he had come here he would have not stayed or would have caused trouble most likely. You do remember burning the A&M hat, I hope. So I have no idea why A&M fans keep bringing him up. Let it go! I think Texas picks a couple of players a year to throw the money truck at. Ewers last year.

Some of these guys seem to have ties to the university and you would think have a little more love for it too is what I'm saying. I guess I was just different as a kid. I would've given anything to come play here and it seems like some of these kids do feel that way at a time. I just want more of those kids is what i'm saying. TU is old news and the basic college to go to. Change it up, come here, be apart of something bigger. I hate seeing hill committed for a quarter of a year and we lose him because we had some struggles.

Most of these kids aren't fans of any particular school. This is a business decision for them.

You are right I wouldn't have wanted Perkins due to his attitude but he's damn good. Same with Denver... hate to see him go but it's the for the best. I just hate the TU gets to unload the money truck and media doesn't start all this 30 million dollar fund BS. They are and always will be like bama paying players as much as they can. We get the shaft in the media and then go and have a bad year just to top it off to look worse. I can't stand the sips lol

i figure that but i also figure this atmosphere and tradition have to give some of them the chills even if they are studs or not. I get too worked up with recruiting though.

I think our "brand" is just Money, Money, Money based on Jimbo's contract, NIL recruiting, and our fanbase and administration's attitude that spending more money can fix any problem.

Don't make yourself sound ignorant. Hill may or may not have been bought. It is very possible he was just like many players. Saying Archie Manning was bought just makes you look ignorant. If you paid attention to any recruiting outside of A&M, you would realize how ignorant it is to say Manning was bought.

There are still "real Aggies" in the student body (and probably even on the football team), but it is a MUCH lower percentage than in the past. There are many reasoms, not the least of which is the ridiculous goal of growing enrollment insanely at any cost.

Perhaps we change the terminology. Use "affiliation" instead of "commitment" on ESD.
No commitment until LOI comes over the wire.

Normally in year 5 and going 5-7 you make a coaching change and a new coach will bring some momentum from wherever he came from. That's what's really killed us. The lock in to Jimbo.
