His name hasn't been mentioned but there are a few names that have been kept quiet.

All I know is we passed on Longo, Riley wants to wait until playoffs are over, and Mullen said he isn't ready to coach again. Hopefully the "secret" names are good or we find a way to entice Riley or Mullen.

So the secret names are secret in that none of the insiders know who they are or they know and are being asked to keep it quiet?

Recent name floating around is Bobby Petrino. Which would've been good 10 years ago, but is an awful hire today. If we are down to people like him might as well scour the entire country and pluck a random somewhere that has shown some ingenuity.

Petrino purely as a play caller is still an elite talent. Don't like the guy at all and he has left carnage wherever he has been, so that is my major concern. But, my guess is the hire will be someone that is not being talked about. No need to get worked up over speculation at this point.

He's a name that popped up early and we haven't been told he's out like the 3 others so a lot are assuming.

Sorry, but you may be misremembering...

I guess i missed it. Has Jimbo definitively stated that he is hiring a real OC? He is giving up play calling? If not, I still don't understand why it matters who comes here.

But still, I'm sure whatever new coaches Jimbo hires this year will be widely heralded on Texags as great minds and great steals. Jimbo will be praised again, and we will enter 2023 with the same hope of a big season as we always do.

He had an heisman winning offense just 6 seasons ago. And now has a crummy school going to the playoffs 2/3 years when they havent done it since 1990... Oh, and he hung 27 on Arkansas when our offense squeaked out 16

Lane Kiffin had a pretty large play sheet when he called plays at Alabama. I have no idea why Jimbos play sheet comes up. Just petty and stupid.

As far as Durkin. This guy was Jim Harbaughs first choice at Michigan. And was really solid. The idea Durkin isn't a pretty big name is stupid. That said I do not think Durkin did a good job last year.
