I heard that 500 players are in the portal.

So why not just cut the charade and get rid of this recruiting and signing process? Let's just have 1-year "contracts" for all players. Everyone plays for a school for a year and is then a "free agent". That way everyone has access to everyone else's players and the good ones get bid on.

If you want to make CFB like NFL, just do it completely.

Is this sarcasm? That would be impossible.

Just go full nfl and just allow schools to offer contracts to hs recruits or portal players s d the two parties can negotiate the terms

You ex t mega bucks then you sign for 3 or 4 years

You want to be able to test free agency then you sign for 1 or 2 but it will be for less money per year

You could have a players Union and a salary cap etc…

what if all incoming freshman players had to stay two years before entering portal. i think that would clean up some of this mess.

No, it's not sarcasm. We just create a massive pool of players. Then each school "drafts/signs" a player for ONE year. After a year, everyone goes back to the transfer portal or whatever it is now called.
Then you go back to recruiting new players for the next year.

Why not just go complete-NFL? Why such half assed measured?

Or, another radical idea here, you could tie it to graduating. Keep the "school" aspect in place and encourage athletes to focus on both their degree and their performance. I bet with enough assistance and summer schooling, most athletes that what to graduate in three years could.

Maybe if somebody was in a really bad situation, you could let them transfer and just take a penalty, like a year off or something.

Is that really how you think the NFL works?

this is kind of the way juco used to work. had to complete enough credits to get associate degree before going division 1. so you could do something like that. tie it to getting 60 credit hours before you can transfer.

What if, and here is a radical idea, there is nothing to fix and the current situation is fine with players exercising their right to leave whenever they decide.

how long til America just grows tired of this and realizes this is just minor league football with out the school pride that comes with backing student athletes that are ACTUALLY committed to the school and team they love?

Im halfway there, at least. Surprised at how little this 5-7 year disappointed me. it's like if the local minor league baseball season has a bad year, WGAF? the players are just there to hone their skills for a larger paycheck down the road.

I just checked. This is your fifth post today on the Aggie football forum. If this is you checking out of college football I'd hate to see what all in looks like.

I don't have the time to write a long essay here. The general idea is to have a pool of players with 1 year contracts who get shuffled every year. So we may be lucky and get some of Saban's players.

Let's stop the illusion of a "student-athlete" for basketball and football. Make those sports minor leagues for the pros where schools license their name.

No they would be off the team. i guess if you get kicked off the team and want to transfer maybe you have to sit a year to become eligible. but great point.
