He's a good guy!

Reports say graduate transfer. How can a sophomore be a graduate transfer?
He's a redshirt sophomore.
But still. How are all these guys graduating in 3 years INCLUDING the massively time consuming football schedules they have??
I'm calling BS on these athletes graduating so quickly. And half of them (not Haynes) can't even spell. A seriously good portion of them couldn't even qualify academically if they weren't athletes.
You gonna tell me they completed 120 hours of college level coursework in 3 years with lack of time they have? That's 20 hours per semester.
No way.

I am most disappointed in his departure because it seems he forgot how important it was that we had a QB behind him the day he got injured. Being a QB2, putting in work and being ready when you are needed, is extremely important. Winning championships relies a lot on depth. This departure to the portal tells me a little more about his character than I initially thought of him.

I couldn't disagree with this take more. Why do we feel like kids should stick around? They don't owe us anything. The rules are such now that a player can go chase new opportunities, and why shouldn't they? Why should King come back, knowing he won't be QB1, and ride the bench? He's had 3 years in the program. If he isn't the starter now, then he never will be unless Weigman (and probably Max) gets hurt.bradleyk said:

A friend who taught college English told me that we've all heard about college athletes who couldn't read and write, and he said, "Hell, we've had some who couldn't even talk."PhatMack19 said:Martin Cash said:4 said:

There is no way he only fumbled 4-5 times. I would have guessed 12.MuchosPollos said:
Four pages. Most with Business school and graduation talk.
Let's just be honest, he was a terrible QB w a penchant for turnovers. Career stats = 10 games, 10 TDs, 1500 yds and 10 INT. I couldn't find the fumble stats….guessing 4 or 5.
I'm sure he's a good kid but it's not much of a loss other than the high hopes everyone had for him.

A high 4*, but some service did rate him as a 5*.
Longview’s Haynes King has committed to Georgia Tech, per his father, John King. The former Texas A&M QB has three years of eligibility remaining. #TogetherWeSwarm pic.twitter.com/wKKL6jkpTZ

As a QB with wheels better than his arm, it's a good match for him. Also get a masters at GT and you've got a job for life.jaxisback said:
Good for Haynes.
Georgia Tech is an excellent school. I hope he continues to develop and does really well there.
At the high school I am at we offer early college dual credit. I will have 35 students graduate this year with their associates degree (60 hours of college credit).PhatMack19 said:Martin Cash said:Exactly. A lot of AP classes are offered now in HS. Kids can graduate Hs with over 30 hours now, and start college as sophomore's academically.
The senior year of high school needs to be deleted. But if instead high school graduates complete college courses with additional tutoring perhaps it is worth it.Haricougar said:At the high school I am at we offer early college dual credit. King really needs to work with a QB coach and get his throwing mechanics fixed. He will never be successful the way he throws the ball right now.

This will be a referendum on Jimbo. If King goes elsewhere and he excels, then that's a big reflection on our program. Time will tell.
